I did this just naturally and now I have decided that I am taking 30 seconds at the end of every call I make, to the insurance man, the doctor's office, the school secretary, at the gas station, everyone, and saying simply and not rehearsed, basically this:
"Hey, I really feel the need to say something to you about Katrina and the poor people in that area. We really have to hold someone responsible for what they are going through and for the safety of our nation. I personally hold the president responsible. It really is a low point in our history."
I physically feel sick when I say it but my true feelings come through. I tear up but I keep talking because I know I only have their attention for about 20 seconds.
Nobody has been negative and everybody has looked or sounded as if they wanted to throw up and were deeply affected by this tragedy. All have thanked me. Don't thank me, just do it, too is what I am telling them. FIGHT for this country and for the people!
****CALL PEOPLE ON STUFF I am in a red part of MI and so I added to one woman, you know we really are not that much different. We are all working our asses off. I am trying to make that point to people. We need to unite as a people. All of my RW acquaintances are not assholes, really. Well, kind of, but they are not this bad. They are not racist, for the most part, and they are not stupid. They stopped paying attention. They drank the kool aid, and to my closer acquaintances I have said this. I have let them know that I will lose friends over my country. No doubt. I will not let the ones that I could call friends off the hook. Now it is their decision if they want to hang with me. (And I make a mean pizza and will be the pizza nazi and they know it)I will not TOLERATE their ignorance. I will not make small talk throughout this tragedy. We have to call people on stuff.
