Just got off the phone with Sen. Mike DeWine's office...
they transferred me to a young man who is specifically handling the Katrina issue...

I read him the list of Fema screw ups on the DU homepage, with reference to the media links. I asked what is going on. His answer was that I should call FEMA.

I just about had a stroke! I said, "nope, wrong answer." I then told him that Mr. DeWine needs to go to the President and say, "What the fuck is going on here?"

I could hear a sharp intake of breath. Huuuh!! the young man said "We can't use profanity." I just lost it. I said I guess it was OK for the Vice-President to tell Sen. Lehy on the Senate floor to go fuck himself. He had no answer.

All in all it was a useless call. THEY DON'T CARE FOLKS!! THEY JUST DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS. And BTW, I told the young man that my neighbor, who is a Republican and listens to Rush, told me yesterday that no one represents us and that if another disaster occurs, we are on our own. This is the god's truth.

I'm sure that guy on the phone could give a shit about me, a Dem. But maybe he'll reflect on what I said about my neighbor.

I give up. A dear friend who recently moved to another state, called me last night and said her friends pace the floor and rant and rave. She says she doesn't sleep. My neighbor, referred to above, says she's been sick at her stomach for a week.

Where is the help for us?

1. sad, isn't it?
They're more concerned with covering Bush's ass than they are about the safety of American citizens.

Face it, the ruling party could give a shit about the proles - it's all about wealth and power, and if we have to die so they can have their tax cuts and Halliburton contracts and openly loot the federal treasury, so be it.

6. I can't express what it feels like
to be sitting here and to know, beyond all doubt, that there's no one we can turn to. Bush (cursed be his name) is going to "investigate" himself. Our congress people either don't care or are afraid to speak up. where do we turn?

2. All they wanted
is for all of them to drown so they can redevelop New Orleans and make a lot of money. That is all they care about.

13. Yes, and I think there were some threads
that were "disappeared" a few days ago because people said this was done on purpose.

What I want to know is how can anyone NOT see the NOLA situation to be purposeful?

Where is the plausible explanation for anything else??? Waiting.....

3. You did the best you could.
'I said, "nope, wrong answer." I then told him that Mr. DeWine needs to go to the President and say, "What the fuck is going on here?" '

Good for you. It WAS the wrong answer. The little shit was just passing the buck, a favorite occupation these days.

'I said I guess it was OK for the Vice-President to tell Sen. Lehy on the Senate floor to go fuck himself. He had no answer. '

Good for you!

I'm glad you told him that about your neighbor the Republican.

'and that if another disaster occurs, we are on our own. '

No question about it! Even the koolaid drinkers are getting that.

21. Are you the young man I was just talking to
in Sen. DeWine's office? Just asking.

Don't bother trying to refocus the issue. No, the Repugs didn't CAUSE the hurricane.:eyes:

But Bush is responsible for the deaths of thousands in NO.

'Course, some official in Florida remarked that no Arabian horses died. That's a plus, I guess...

25. He's not in trouble....they own the voting machines.
None of 'em are in trouble, as far as the vote goes. They get to count the votes in secret. Remember?

5. I don't know. I believe like you said that we are on our own.
I believe that the majority of Americans deep down inside believe that also. How can we not? I am sick to my stomach over this. It should be very apparent that not only doesn't this corrupt maladministration lift one finger to keep us safe, they won't lift a finger to save us once disaster strikes. And what's worse, the Pinhead** supports won't hold him accountable for this. :argh:

7. It was good to make the call.
Hit them with a little reality therapy. Let them know that their bullshit is selling less and less, and that the polity is getting more and more "pissed" and that many of us know very well that they don't have a clue as to how to deal with reality.

Sooner or later the rats will begin to abandon ship.

12. What else would you expect...
from Mike DeSwines office? That man is a dickwad.

Personally I have been very angry lately and it is all due to what our country has become. With the advent of Katrina I can't even think straight anymore. I have become so incredibly pissed off at this administration. Not only have I become pissed at this administration I have become pissed at both sides...democrats and republicans. I may get flamed for saying this but both sides failed miserably. Sure the rethuglikkkans bare the brunt of the responsibility, but no one is gonna come out of this smelling like roses.

Right now I am angry at our country, I am angry at every dumb fuck that voted for bush, and it is effecting me in my everyday life. I have had it!!

15. We need to look at some facts.
In 1998 the State $2 billion construction budget, but less than one tenth of one percent of that -- $1.98 million -- was dedicated to levee improvements in the New Orleans area. State appropriators were able to find $22 million that year to renovate a new home for the Louisiana Supreme Court and $35 million for one phase of an expansion to the New Orleans convention center. But no money for levees.

IN 2001 residents of the area rejected a proposed tax increase for 60 projects, including projects to shore up the flood-walls.

In 2002 the state didn't raise the matching funds leaving 65% of the Federal funds untouched.

The local governments were building more important golf courses.
