The President today declared an emergency exists in the State of Louisiana and ordered Federal aid to supplement state and local response efforts in the parishes located in the path of Hurricane Katrina beginning on August 26, 2005, and continuing.

The President's action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures...

slow response by the Federal Gov. in coming to the aid of those stranded by Katrina in NOLA. What a bunch of assholes! Why, when they knew that a monumental disaster was fixing to befall the city of NO, did the Federal Gov not employ all it's resources to evacuate it's inhabitants? Why did the Mayor and Gov even half to ask for assistance in the first place? Why leave the citizens of a City, where more than half had not the means to evacuate, to the mercy of state and local gov with limited resources? Pinhead** knew that a Mother of a storm was bearing down on NO and he did nothing to get people with no means to evacuate, out! He should have, before Katrina made landfall, sent all of the Federal Gov, resources to evacuate the city! Chew on that, FReepers!
