3. I think that we can be premature and jerks

Having been called a freeper often enough myself (by stupid, arrogant, judgemental fuckheads with the reading comprehension of a really dumb rock), let me respond to this.

There are all kinds of people that come here, from all kinds of backgrounds and with all kinds of (or lack of) information. When we jump somebody's case who may be someone who CAN learn from patience and constructive interaction, we're being every bit as close minded and stupid as the people we criticize.

Some people DO ask innocent questions. When we flame and posture, we come across as shrill and close minded and even extremist to someone who considers themselves in the middle or even someone who is just "exploring" an idea.

This is supposed to be about collaberation, not confrontation. Let's all try a little harder. Threads like "here Freeper Freeper" are unworthy of DU.

and I admit to being tempted, but I chose the high road instead. As you may or may not know, I have not turned over a new leaf, I've turned the whole damn tree over. I was really really mean to a total asshole here once (okay, several assholes, and many times) who completely deserved it, and I realized later that it would have been even meaner not to take the bait. It completely infuriates them.

But also, we come off like a bunch of squawking children when we don't take the high road.

Just treat them the same way you would treat someone with Turrett's syndrome. The REAL ones are only coming here to get a reaction out of us for entertainment anyway, why oblige them?

I've tried it your way, believe me.

I'd post something like, "We must find a way to get Bush out now" and a Freeper would post something completely and inappropriately violent to make it look like DUers want something very bad to happen to Bush. I'd respond with the "Justice via Peace friend, not violence" and then their post would be deleted (thank goodness for the great Admins here).

So I'm just tired of the recent freeper invasion... they've been non-stop.

Are they wearing me down? Yes. Am I tired of it? Yes. Even Jesus flipped the tables over in the tabernacle once.

I see that you have many thousands more posts than I so I'll defer to your wisdom on this.
