Another scam: Did you hear about the fifteen days of R & R...
...for the troops? According to the press releases, all soldiers whose tours of duty were extended to a full year in-country, were to get fifteen days off and a plane ride as far as Baltimore. However, my friend's son, an army reservist stationed south of Baghdad, told her that only 45 soldiers in Iraq will get two weeks of leave.

Apparently, the much ballyhooed leave program was an outright lie, concocted to make bush look like a compassionate CIC. Just when I think that the SOB can't make me any more sick to my stomach... :puke:

2. She was probably despondent about the prospect of returning.
Whatever the case, though, how very sad.

3. highly likely
These incompetent idiots don't know a goddam thing about mental health or depression. I hadn't heard the story of that young woman, but it fucking pisses me off now that I have. I can easily imagine her walking along- a mere ghost in this world..... Well she's a real ghost now.

8. The Pentagon was going to fly them only to Baltimore. Any further...
...travel was to be out of their own pockets. Of course, the point is moot, now. They got the media to carry the lie and that was the objective. Few people will hear the truth.

11. So with all that money from the 9-11 bailout
The airlines can't afford to let these folks fly for free?

BTW: Where are all those folks with the 'Support Our Troops' bumperstickers on their cars. Why aren't that driving to Baltimore to take these kids home?

10. Not quite
My son is in the 11th Signal Brigade in Iraq and they have over 100 people already on leave from one HQ base unit.

Yes, they have to pay their way from Baltimore, but that's the way it has always been when you get leave from overseas. It's Army policy under any POTUS.

The only exception is for compassionate leaves (death of an immediate family member). Then they fly you to your home city.

for R*R. The wives, families came here to meet them for a week in the sun/rack.

Some went on to wherever they came from but since it was only a week, most stayed here.
