Something called the museum of the american cocktail is getting bars in major cities to hold a "Save New Orleans Cocktail Hour" next Monday, with certain drinks offered for $10 apiece. "Receipts from the Save New Orleans Cocktail Hour will be donated to a special tax-deductible relief fund established by the Museum of the American Cocktail."

My first reaction was...anything to raise funds is good. But the more I looked at this, the more twisted it seemed. And when I checked out the "List of Recommended Cocktails" and saw "Obituary Cocktail", I decided these folks were just a little fucked up.

5. these drinks are regularly served in NOLA

several restaurants here that serve cajun food are doing the same type of things. I think it's a good way to raise money. Lots of people need a drink right now with other people that want to talk about what is going on as well. Also, it gives people a break from the tv and radio...giving them time to connect with neighbors is what alot of people need right now...

I'm drinking a blackened voodoo right now.

6. My local bar has had a fundraiser all week here in Dallas....

if you order a Hurricane (remember that's the signature New Orleans drink)...you get it free but you also make a donation to a relief fund.

7. Geez

When I was 19 (legal drinking age then), I went to a Hurricane Party down South and got alcohol poisoning from drinking mass quantities of Hurricanes. I was in bed for 4 days--2 of those I couldn't even walk.
My cheeks still tingle when someone mentions Hurricanes,lol.

more they drink, the more generous the become. ha
