5. She was in Houston actually
The taped segments were from NOLA and LA and MS so who knows what will be on today. Her show yesterday was more powerful and more complete in its reporting than any I had yet seen on TV. She had the courage to meet with survivors and offer them comfort. Have you seen any one else do this?

6. I hope they try to keep her out...
I'd like to see them try! Then I'd like to see the size of the can of whoop-ass she opens:)

They use the excuse of dead bodies, but we've already seen the carnage and we aren't likely to forget. Just another excuse I say, to allow them to do their dirty deeds cloaked in privacy.

Bastards should be hung, every last one of them.

11. They tried to keep her out of the Superdome
but she wouldn't let them. Mayor Nagin practicaly begged her not to go in and a Guardsmen said he was ordered to keep everyone out. She insisted and they relented only after she removed any liability from them as a result. She insisted to have access to what thousands of other Americans witnessed (the horror of the Super Dome) why not her too? She had to wear a mask and you could see they were all dealing with an unimaginable stench of human waste and decomposition.

Anyone but Oprah would not have the power. We as a people need to see everything. If it is hidden no one can be accountable.

15. I agree
If it has to be hidden, it shouldn't be. If we cannot do business out in the open, the only thought can be, what are they hiding?

3. With thanks to those college kids - "no good deed goes unpunished"
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 02:17 PM by FormerRushFan
I heard one of those Duke students on NPR - sounded like a real hero to me, but that's what this administration can't tolerate.

Is this starting to remind you of Rollerball?

edit: THE ORIGINAL ROLLERBALL - saw 3 seconds of the latest one to see it was a joke...

4. just put the final nail in the WH coffin with that decision
ends hope of quieting down the press into pre-hurricane supplicant mode doesn't it?

Let's see if they lie down and take it

16. Will the media just lie down and take it?
Hmmm, I sure wish the Media Whores Online website was still up to answer that question. This decision might engender some negative coverage of Chimpy, but I rate the chances equally likely that the powers that be at a lot of media outlets will breathe a sigh of relief, recall all their reporters, and gladly get the hell out of Dodge so they don't have to file any more embarrassing reports about the incompetence of the administration.

So much easier just to take the administration's word for it, where all the battles are victories, all the wars are won swiftly, and all the children are above average. Except for the darkies.

10. Link was found on Atrios
which is generally reliable. With no media present, the military and the mercs can do as they please, and I suspect that means shooting a lot of people with no witnesses.

13. or perhaps it gives them the ability to hide thousands of bodies
and say it was only a few thousand dead instead of 10s of thousands. If no one knows about it then it didn't happen right?
