Post Hurricane Gallup Poll - Strange Results...

"Do you think Bush has/have done a -- great, good, neither good nor bad, bad, or terrible job -- in responding to the hurricane and subsequent flooding?

BUSH 18% Bad, 24 % Terrible, and 21 % Neutral" - totals 63 %

Here, the public pretty much thinks he sucks or doesn't feel one way or the other.


"Who do you think is MOST responsible for the problems in New Orleans after the hurricane -- , or is no one really to blame?
BUSH - 13 %"

Here, the public doesn't seen to blame him at all. Surely, the 13 % is not made up of DUers, Kayne West, and Jon Stewart only?

1. Gallup is a bush pollster, they poll more republicans than dems

and independents which skew the results. You have to look at the percentage of repubs polled versus the dems and independents, if you can find that data.

6. I guess the 35% is the hard-core repug base that we will never

win. BUT -- that means we could win the next election 65-35, sounds good to me. Big enough margin so EVERYONE would believe it if they rig it.

I don't know how many times I have to repeat this fact. That is his core base. What it means is "no rally effect." none at all. A disaster for the president.

That's a pretty small sample again.

The blame numbers are irrelevant. They gave the option to blame Bush or the feds. That splits off the "pissed at the feds" group.

that poll has been brought up today.

9. You could read the 13% question as basically asking if Bush

is to blame for the Hurricane. That's how many people may have interpreted it.

11. The way they ask the question - with many options for "bad" skews

the results. Plus - many people who are outraged are helping out and doing data-entry and stuff.

No - you definitely cannot trust the polls. Remember that on election day. To ignore any "leaked info" on exit polls tell Dems they have a lead...and encouraging the busy Dem voters to stay home.
