Press conference right now on wwltv.com basically saying that there really isn't a big risk from being exposed to this toxic waste. None more than you would find on a cruise ship or nursing home.
Is anyone else listening to this?

1. Well, he's probably right if you don't drink it, swim in it, get it in

your eyes, nose, mouth, on your hands, in any body orifices or cuts, or, depending on what it is, breath it, or eat it.

Of course, all of that is probably impossible if you are running around New Orleans trying to save people or move bodies.

I bet this Dr Raoult wouldn't go within 50 miles of Nola, LOL.

2. Also saying that

these people really don't need to be vaccinated against Hepatitis A.
Besides there is a vaccine shortage anyway so they will make the decisions of who to vaccinate.

4. Actually he said

that there was little epidemiological risk. He specifically said he knew nothing about about any chemical contaminents -- ie they maybe there, but that's not his area of study.

The reasoning for this is that there have been no widespread disease after 72 hours of exposure, which would be expected.

5. I've thought about all of this and if it's so bad,

why are they allowing it to be pumped into the Gulf ?
Why is someone not SCREAMING about polluting the Gulf Waters?

This doesn't make sense to me at all.

This is a tremendous amount of water. When I lived in Mobile, cholera was found in the Bay. It was traced to a freighter from South America who had illegally dumped their sewage too close to land. There was a big deal about this that went on & on.

and these toxic waters are being pumped out to the Gulf...what is going to happen when the next hurricane blows in the Gulf and sprays them all over another city?
