Bush will break the historical record.
Don't you think the Bush Administration is on track to take the corruption record from the Harding Administration?

It will be a very hard feat for the Harding Administration to maintain its hold on the corruption record. I do believe we are living in historical times. Finally we are going to see the venality record of the Harding Administration broken. Teapot Dome look out here comes Iraq!!

1. I think they outdid the corruption thing with the whole Enron mess,
though somehow managed to deflect attention from their role in it. I'd still love to know just how big a role Enron played in determining the regime's energy policy.

3. 30+ felony charges is going to be hard to break.
And our congress isn't as bent on truth as it is on politics, so I don't think it's going to happen.

4. All criminal activity doesn’t result in legal action

There can be a crime without legal consequence. Simply because there is no indictment doesn’t mean its not a crime. Hell the Bush crowd has already pushed past 35 indictable actions. With the Republicans in charge it is much like it was in the old south, except that now it is the whole country that is being lynched by this crowd.

5. Republicans can lie as long as they're not under oath.
Clinton will forever be condemned BECAUSE he lied under oath. That's the right-wing argument. However, Republicans can lie all they want as long as they're not doing it under oath. So if you have no convictions, you will never convince a Republican that this administration was involved in anything illegal. They will just dismiss it as a dirty politics.

6. These people had Harding beat several months ago.

Something I wrote in April that compares Teapot Dome to what the Bushies were doing THEN, and it's gotten worse since:

http://www.mahablog.com/id10.html

When you go back and look at the details of Teapot Dome, you see that was small potatoes to the corruption that's going on now, particularly with the war profiteering going on in Iraq. And Harding himself probably had no idea what was going on; you can't say that about Bush.
