BBC Is Brilliant
Our Local news here , has just had a report from a BBC reporter in New Orleans.

A reporter is ripping into what is happening he is on the ground in New Orleans and he is getting angry.

He started off the report saying president Bush said all of the dead will be treated with dignity and be picked up, then the reporter showed a dead body on the road, and said "BUT WHAT ABOUT THIS GUY"

He then interviewed some Troops while pointing to some dead bodies, and asked them why they hadn't recovered the bodies, they said, We cant touch them because we have had no orders, the reporter replied, they have been here for six days!

They then showed all the toxic spills and sewerage and dead bodies in the water, the reporter was basically making the point, that what we are getting told about the rescue efforts is different from what is actually happening.

He ended by saying, if 9/11 bought America together, the Hurricane Katrina has changed the way America looks at itself.

1. If B* doesn't treat the living with dignity, how can you expect him to
treat the dead with dignity? Why do you think that he wants no reporters in NOLA? Why does he not honor the soldiers he sent to die for Halliburton? Why does he say he's Pro-life when he's taken so many lives? (As Gov. of TX executions, Iraq, NOLA) He says he's pro-life for beings that can't feel, as in fetuses and Schiavos. He obviously doesn't care about living human beings. He allowed them to starve in subhuman conditions for 5 days.

18. Sara, this is a "pro-life" hesidency after all!
Given his frog-blowing-up childhood, it doesn't surprise me he's found ways to meet his Jeffrey Dharma needs in public office.

16. What he knows is that Repugs are in control of everything in
Wash DC and he can do anything he damn well pleases because he's arrogant enough to think he can't be touched. I would probably feel the same way since everything his administration has done would have had a Dem impeached in a heartbeat. Can't you just see him saying "so what"? like he said to Pelosi "what didn't go right". It will be a glorious day when this asshole in out of office and no one will ever ask him for his advice on anything that has to do with government. He can just slink away and never bother us again.

7. The bodies are NOT being removed...
NPR reported this AM that 3 were tied in trash bags, (NOT body bags) near a boat ramp Weds AM and were still there at dusk. Again, the reporter was told that orders for the boat crews were to secure bodies, but not remove them. This was interpreted by the man interviewed to mean loop a rope around an appendage and tie to any unmoving object, like a street sign...

Of course, NO PICTURES!!!! We must maintain DIGNITY!!!! Mendacity, lies, deceit, greed and avarice!!!!

11. I hope the media picks up on this statement from
Dr James Moises......"That the decomposing bodies that are occuring right now in the water, and there's thousands of them, the things we worry about are hepititis A, hepititis B and other infectious diseases that might be in the water."

He says THOUSANDS OF THEM.........will the official count depict this? We shall see.

12. This is really making me rethink all those
reports last year about mass dumps into the rivers of U.S. soldiers bodies...I thought then it couldn't be true...but it is becoming apparent to me that in order to keep the body count down, this administration isn't above just not counting bodies by losing them...

Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 07:57 PM by bloom
it'd be hard to imagine people going "yea! rah! America" after the sickening gov't response in New Orleans.

There will be people who do - esp. on 9/11.

12% - the diehards (the brainless) - even say Bush*, etc. has done an "excellent" job in NOLA.

Let the corpses rot in the sun for days because they are nit like "us". No respect for the dead because they are not affluent and white. What a great country eh?

19. The BBC is indeed brilliant
He was wrong on one thing, however:

> He ended by saying, if 9/11 bought America together, the Hurricane Katrina has changed the way America looks at itself.

911 did not bring America together, it divided the country.

BBC has so much to give to journalism. It's always been the best source, and the only source I would trust without checking other sources for alternate versions of a story.

But hell, the best thing always is to let any piece of news sink in, then verify it from a number of sources.
