Why would Ron Paul vote against the $51 Bil package for Katrina survivors?

These eleven congressmen, Republican conservatives all, just voted against the $51 billion package ( H. R. 3673) for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

the money cuz FEMA is wasting money and it isn't going to the people who need it.

HAlliburton will end up with a good portion of the Billions.

To give FEMA one frigging dollar and tell them to spend it as they see fit is criminal. The Republicans would allow no ammendments to designate how and where the money would be spent. They should just blow the place up. Although, I have been having fantasy's about a Marie Antoinette type thing going on there.

FEMA under Bush is even worse than we knew.

I'm guessing that he is opposed because the money goes directly to FEMA under Brown which is like...

I am registered Libertarian, but I voted Kerry for pRes, (I am disappointed with that outcome and his no where to be found after the election) but I digress, I am a human rights activist, which of course is all political but this stuff gets so sticky and muddled that who the hell knows what are in those bills and of course I would not want one more dime going to FEMA at this point. My opinion is allow the PEOPLE to do what is needed, they would have not allowed those people to die that way and the rest to go without food and more essentially WATER. All I know is people need help and they need it now, by any means necessary!!

10. I watched Ron Paul's 15 minutes on C-Span live this evening

His point of view was that America ought to fund Katrina relief by cutting earmarked spending in the Highway bill. He specifically mentioned the pork barrel Alaska bridge project that would "just affect 2 senators and 1 representative." He bemoaned this Congress's propensity for continually offering this President "blank check" supplementals to fund "one-time" expenditures at the delayed sacrifice of our children's and grandchildren's futures.

I thought he made some pretty well-reasoned points.

Ron Paul is a libertarian like Dennis Kucinich is a liberal. They both actually believe what they say, and are willing to accept that their positions look radical to those who may disagree.

Was wild too, I also saw OK's current junior embarrassment Tom Coburn admitting agreement with a NYT editorial on FEMA and call for the immediate appointment of a financial controller for Katrina relief to oversee all expenditures before any funds are released.

Bad night for blind party loyalty.
