Why Some Voted Against the Katrina Aid.
Because the money goes directly to FEMA, currently under the direction of an utter f*cktard.

He has had prior experience at spending 'political capital'.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was kicking ass about this on the floor last night.

Randi Rhodes told me so.

2. Please. look at the names of those who voted
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 08:25 PM by Mass
All Republicans that never vote for anything that does not go to their friends.

Read what Murkowski wrote.

It is clear that these people (Tancredo, Sessenbrenner, ...) could not care less about the refugees. They never have cared about poor people in their lives.

If these 11 republicans dont trust Bush, they are welcome to help Democrats impeach him. For the rest, how do you expect to help these people in LA and MS? By using private help. This is exactly what Bush wants.

5. Please a link to what Princess Lisa (Murkowski) wrote...
I haven't read anything about her response to this, and I want to know. Uncle Ted's a lost cause, I'm sure.

6. Not her, her father.
This coming from a Governor who received millions for single pork riddled bridge in Alaska.
http://www.breitbart.com/news/na/D8CFK5701.html

Gov. Murkowski: $2K is a lot of money - especially for a handout, Alaska Gov. Frank Murkowski, a Republican, said he had concerns about the potential for abuse.

"That's a lot of money. The question is how do you separate the needy from those who just want a $2,000 handout," he said.

Dickhead in Chief. Yeah, it was reported in our paper this morning that he was worried about the $2,000 debit cards possibly being distributed to people who didn't "need" them. He is one of the most ethically challenged human beings I know of. I haven't seen or heard anything from Lisa, who is not quite so offensive.

ed. I read the article. Yeah, that's the quote. These people are so embarrassing. I wrote a scatching e-mail to my congress critters yesterday about how inexcusably it is to us as Alaskans to be getting all this pork when people are dying on the Gulf Coast. If they were any kind of real human beings -- Ted Stevens and Don Young -- they would stand up in Congress and give the money back. We don't want their fucking bridges to nowhere, believe me.

10. No. but they decided to send a check
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 08:33 PM by Mass
Easy for people who are homeless :sarcasm:

http://www.toughenough.org/

Due to the overwhelming confusion surrounding the debit cards, FEMA will be distributing cards to the remaining 8,000 or so people at the Astrodome, and they'll be mailing checks for $2K to everyone else. You're supposed to sign up with the US Postal Service so your check gets to "the right place."

Seeing as how the evacuees are homeless, I don't know where they're going to mail those checks, especially since FEMA wants to clear out the Astrodome by next week.

11. Unless they legislate something
won't they have trouble cashing them at banks if they have no bank account anywhere. I know there are check cashing services but I think they cost a lot.

3. Then I wouldn't vote for it either.
The only thing FEMA is successful at is preventing aid from reaching people. Damned if I want a dime put toward that.

No clue what they are doing whatsoever. Did you see the medical team they keep rerouting? So far they've treated one cut finger.

Troops aren't collecting bodies because they don't have orders to do so.

NOBODY IS IN CHARGE.

13. The Red Cross has been using these debit cards for years
for victims of "small" disasters (in lieu of mass sheltering).

FEMA - if they were so puckered anuses - could just contract with the Red Cross for this.
