Jazz funerals in protest
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 08:45 PM by eleonora
We should organize a Jazz funeral with a protest march in D.C and other cities on September 16...anyone taking charge of something similar? It'll prove to the world the spirit of NOLA (and the South) is very much alive, and we will not accept any more dangerous lies from Bush and Co.

12. I hope to see it happening
I'm broke but if anyone is organizing this, I am saving to be a part of it. Please help me making this a reality.

2. aren't jazz funerals supposed to be
a positive and uplifting way to say goodbye? i refuse to say goodbye to democracy or NOLA.

I prefer we not do it unless it's endorsed by the jazz community.

3. Only if it's the mournful slow procession To the graveyard...
...not the raucous uplifting return FROM it.

There's nothing to dance about yet.

6. Excellent idea for every Floodgate protest
Jazz funerals are awesome things to hear. So distinctive. Add some sweet sound to the fury to make it unforgettable. The flood is of course unforgettable, but Floodgate must not go unpunished.

I'm not trying to be uncaring of the tradititions, I'm from there DAMNIT. I'm, tired and I'm fed up and I have *only* half of the people I care still alive as far as I know..only HALF.

I want to see our spirit alive damnit ond I say DAMMIT, WE WILL NOT LET IT SLIDE, WE WILL REBUILD AND WE WE WILL LET THOSE INEPT WASHINGTON FEDS KNOW OUR CULTURE IS NOT DEAD. We will fight for the injustice that happened, for the people who fed me when they could, even though they were as poor as I was, for the people who helped others and didn't have money to care about themselves. Please, be human, help them and me
(I'm in the midwest now but my heart and people are still there)

14. There will be jazz on 9/11 at Bushville, DC - www.bushville.org
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 06:48 AM by GeorgeBushytail
On 9/11 survivors of Katrina will perform an act of NONVIOLENT Civil Disobedience by setting up camp on the Washington, DC Mall.

Bushville, DC will remain as long as it takes to get answers and change.

Visit www.bushville.org and spread the word.

We will camp on Bush's doorstep and make him face us every day until he is driven from power.

Push this website hard, please. Help make history.

Email a plug for www.bushville.org to 10 of your friends. If you don't have 10 friends go out and make some.
