I'm not American, and I'm certainly not a recent convert, but the chaos that's surrounded Katrina is incredible.

I lost my cousin in Khao Lak. My uncle searched after her in Thailand for several days and the help they recieved from the Swedish authorities was inadequate at best. But New Orleans is not around the world from Bush. It's in his own country. How shameful.

I sincerely hope that this is an eye-opener for alot of Americans.

Thank you for the post, and I hope you will stick around with us. Katrina was not our "finest hour" but we will rally around our own and attempt to fix our failings. Fortunately, we do still live in a democracy, and our president still works for us (ok, settle down DUers).

As of today some progress has been made because of our screaming. The man in charge of FEMA has been replaced. Hopefully the same will hold true in our upcoming elections.

And yes, we all hope this is an eye-opener for many Americans. :)

I should have bookmarked it, but I assumed it would still be available today (dumb!) won't do that again. The topic was a memo sent by the W.H. declaring the gulf coast a disaster area on the 26th of Aug. The writer had a list of the LA Parishes included, and NOT included was the whole coastline of LA. The poster also had a map that showed in "red" the parishes that were covered. I can't find it, and I promised to send it to a friend in Mass. who is connected to the Red Cross. Please anyone know what I'm referring to???? Thanks!:grouphug:
