Cheney needs SIX paramedics to go fishing?
Found this while trying to pinpoint exactly where VP and Cabinet were during disaster. Cheney need SIX AMBULANCE ATTENDANTS to go FISHING?

"He confirmed that Secret Service agents purchased flies, but he couldn't say whether the flies were to be used by the vice president or by the agents. He said the shop, which also provides lodging, was putting up four Secret Service agents and six ambulance personnel."

VP's Bighorn trip hush-hush

Whether because of security concerns or because Vice President Dick Cheney is trying to protect a favorite fishing hole, few details about his visit to the Bighorn River were being released publicly.

Cheney flew into Billings early Monday morning and headed down to Fort Smith to do some fishing. His plane, Air Force Two, was accompanied by a C-17 cargo jet, two Chinook helicopters and two Blackhawk helicopters. Beyond that, mum has been the word on the vice president's visit.

A spokeswoman in Cheney's press office in Washington, D.C., would say nothing about what was described as a "strictly private" fishing trip. <snip>

3. a fishing trip, of course....
I somehow still manage with just a jeep and some tackle, but real men evidently need some serious infrastructure in order to wet a line....

8. willow switch
Once saw one of the nicest brookies I've ever seen caught taken by a 10 or 11 year old kid who tied a hunk of mono little bit of leader and a fly to a willow switch he'd just cut off one of the streamside trees. I believe he'd walked in.Who knows the dicks routine.

5. Really heavy equipment?
And you know? They left out the pilots and cargo staff as part of the entourage, so who else did they fail to mention? Surgeons?

6. He had time for a fundraiser for Conrad Fucking Burns:

Cheney to attend Burns event in Billings

HELENA - Vice President Dick Cheney will be in Billings for a fundraising event for U.S. Sen. Conrad Burns' re-election campaign on Aug. 15. Cheney will appear at a reception and then a lunch to raise money at the Holiday Inn Grand Montana Hotel and Convention Center for
Burns, a Republican seeking his fourth six-year term next year.

Tickets to the lunch are $125 apiece, while admission to the reception is $1,000 per person.

Details of the event were scant on Tuesday for security reasons, although invitations to the event were received by Montana Republicans earlier this week.

"Because of requirements for White House security, we cannot comment at this time," said Burns' campaign spokesman, John Brueggeman, a state senator from Polson.
