3. Karina? Katrina? 1st Lady: oops! I'm so out of touch
(I sent this out a few places, including the daily show.)

Like the toxic waters of New Orleans, I guess nobody wants to touch this.

I watched the first lady at Lovejoy Elementary School in Des Moines, Iowa on CSPAN refer twice to hurricane Katrina as "Karina."

With bated breath I waited for one of those displaced, young survivors
to wave her hand and say, " NO Mrs. President! It's hurrcane
KATRINA!"

But it didn't come. However, I expect to see this on Jon Stewart tout d'suite.

Mrs. Spellings, following Mrs. Bush, of course, did not draw attention to this error.

4. That is the IRONY of this- she was at a SCHOOL with SPELLING
How hard would it have been for this woman, who has been at least technically involved with Katrina since Friday (she was, after all, in tourist town Lafayette one day), to have GOTTEN THE NAME RIGHT.... at a school... where she was touting eduction...

8. The benefit of the doubt......
At first glance I would use my common sense and give her the benefit of the doubt that it was a slip of the toungue. I mean, we all sit here at our computers and talk, but how many of us are behind the scrutiny of tv cameras day after day? But then again, why should I use common sense? It isn't valued by the leaders of our country......

Then I remembered the infamous Dean Scream. We all remember it. It was the most over-played soundbyte maybe in tv history. And it was all bullshit, the only reason it sounded like he was screaming was that they didn't mic the crowd noise. Common sense would have obliged the networks to give him the benefit of the doubt, not to tarnish his image with acusations of emotional instablity. But did they? Hell no they didnt, they had a chance and they took it.........

In Conclusion:
When Bush and Co. say something stupid...... fuck um
Take No Prisoners!!!!!!!!!! They'd do the same to us

12. Laura Bush
would have some credibility if her daughters showed some sort of patriotism in their acts. Or if any of the elitist Bushies showed patriotism, none of them do.

17. Didn't you get the memo? Only Bushbots are patriotic
by virtue of the fact that they are bushbots.

14. Slightly off topic, but I read on another thread that she thinks criticism
of Bush is "disgusting". This from the woman who told jokes about Bush milking a horse and running out to Chippendales with "Dollar Bill" Cheney.

20. I heard this twice on Mike Malloy. And remember,
SHE'S the "literate" one in the family.

She's as useless as the rest of 'em.

21. they just can't help themselves
One by one, they continue to be exposed as who they really are. We've seen the incredible incompetance of "brownie", the arrogance of chertoff, the tragically callous foolishness of the idiotson, the pomposity of the idiotson's parents, and the clueless, programmed non-response by the cabinet. The idiotson's wife, speaking from the storm-ravaged refuge of Iowa, can pose and surround herself with human props; but she can't hide from who she really is.
If there is a god, surely the tide is changing. When virtually everything out of their mouths is akin to another shovel full of dirt from their own political grave, we can only continue to ask more questions and keep them talking.
