U.S. turns down Israeli offer of extensive humanitarian aid
The United States has turned down Israel's offer to provide more extensive aid for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina, Israel Radio reported Friday.

A special El Al flight departed for New Orleans on Thursday morning carrying goods for Hurricane Katrina refugees.

The Boeing 747 cargo plane was loaded with 90 tons of goods including food, bottled water, tents, diapers and baby formula.

Another El Al plane carried Foreign and Defense Ministry delegations.

...more

Considering the poor response from our own federal government, should we really turn away any aid?!

2. But why?
We should accept any and all aid that is offered.

There certainly is no shortage of needy and desperate people to help.

Bush probably thinks accepting aid from foreign countries makes us look like we can't take care of our own, well, uh....

:argh:

3. So how many offers have we turned down?

And wouldn't it have been more polite to do it before they left for the Gulf Coast? Not just Israel, all those others who got turned away by FEMA, after actually arriving.

So, it's illegal to hang federal officials from lampposts?

4. Who knows?!
It shouldn't matter who offers us the help!

As for hanging federal officials...well, that depends. If you are white and "found" rope, it should be OK. However, if you are a non-white and "looted" rope, then it is a crime!
