Swedish plane full with aid waiting since 6 days for an US order

Sweden's government spokeman Per Ström criticised the passivity of the US concerning international aid.
Since 6 days (I repeat "six days") a swedish plane carrying equipment to clean water is waiting on a military airport to receive an order from the US where it shall fly to. So far no order has been received.

Ström said the plane would continue to wait but could take off at any moment if the US wishes so.


I take it the water in NOLA is clean.

12. Yes - we need some legal input here. Sweden isn't the only one that

has been blocked or forced to leave, with the result that more people are still dying. When the Canadian search-and-rescue team from Vancouver was working (long days when there was no other aid) they rescued many, but one lady still died from dehydration. As soon as the US authorities FINALLY appeared, many days later, the Canadians were forced to leave despite their being needed. This was in Louisiana, in St. Bernard Parish. It had been totally ignored by the feds, the people were still stranded without food or water and were dying. How many more communities are like this, STILL ignored by everyone? When the feds come, they come with GUNS, not water, food and shelter.

13. NPR: Plane Ready Since Last Friday

NPR had a story about this yesterday afternoon. They said the Swedish plane was loaded and ready to go since last Friday. They interviewed Swedish officials who couldn't understand why they couldn't get permission to land. (Maybe all the airports were busy with the Saudis flying out).
