When people blame Blanco & Nagin, ask them this
When you hear people laying all the blame on the local and state officials of Louisiana, ask them if they're also responsible for the tragically slow response in Mississippi.

Shuts them RIGHT UP.

There are still areas in Mississippi that haven't caught a GLIMPSE of FEMA or anyone else for that matter.

THEY ARE SPREADING THE LIE, DONT LET THEM

The Governor of Louisiana did request help on August 28 (http://gov.louisiana.gov/Disaster%20Relief%20Request.pd ... )
in accordance with the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and
Emergency Assistance Act (http://www.fema.gov/library/stafact.shtm ). This act gives the President authority to act to save lives:

"§ 5192. Federal emergency assistance {Sec. 502}

1. Specified

In any emergency, the President may--

1. direct any Federal agency, with or without reimbursement,
to utilize its authorities and the resources granted to it
under Federal law (including

personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, and managerial,
technical and advisory services) in support of State and
local emergency assistance efforts to

save lives, protect property and public health and safety,
and lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe;

2. coordinate all disaster relief assistance (including
voluntary assistance) provided by Federal agencies, private
organizations, and State and local

governments;

3. provide technical and advisory assistance to affected
State and local governments for--

1. the performance of essential community services;
2. issuance of warnings of risks or hazards;
3. public health and safety information, including
dissemination of such information;
4. provision of health and safety measures; and
5. management, control, and reduction of immediate threats to
public health and safety;

4. provide emergency assistance through Federal agencies;

5. remove debris in accordance with the terms and conditions
of section 407

6. provide assistance in accordance with section 408

7. assist State and local governments in the distribution of
medicine, food, and other consumable supplies, and emergency
assistance. "

9. Confused about the dates you quote
Sorry, but just for clarification:
1) your opening statement says LA gov declared emergency on 8/26, "that federalized it"
2) "THEY ARE SPREADING THE LIE, DON'T LET THEM
The Governor of Louisiana did request help on August 28 "....indicated request was made on Aug 28, not Aug 26. Which date is correct?

Also, the link to louisiana.gov takes me to a page which says "this page is not available"

Could you please provide the link to the original DU message from SK?

This information is pretty important to the timeline, and I'd like to use it with my family, but I absolutely must have my facts straight......because they always check them !

7. My nephew is one of those guardsmen.
He called my sister last night to report that he's handing out water to people and looking for those in distress. He found one woman very dehydrated so he started an IV in her and called for an ambulance. He found a diabetic who'd gone several days without insulin and was able to get her help also.

When he first arrived, he had only one IV bag and no bandages -- that's been taken care of. His first medical training was last spring in the guard but now he's playing medic.

Back to your point, wakeme. He's in Gulfport. I don't know the demographics there but I don't doubt for a second that your statement is true.

work."

12. The anwer is IN the e-mail.
He talks about "this AREA". That isn't the whole state, etc. Or even the next state.

He only knows what is going on in his area. NO one is saying that the NG and others isn't there at all. They are saying that not every place is covered. We know that, cause we are getting word from others stating that no one is THERE.

And if your going to error, you rather error in an attempt to get more help.. then to ignore it because your told that they ARE there... And someone dies waiting for help.

And the complaint isn't about the NG on the ground. It's about getting MORE there and others.. to HELP those that are there.

10. Very good-I'll add
I thought they were ALL about turning over everything to local and state governments....right?

I thought "this was a tragedy no one could have prepared for" well then why would you expect a mayor and a governor to be able to do it?

This timeline blows the rest away

8/26 and 8/27 is all you really need to know
