Many years ago, I remember reading an article comparing Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush and in the article the individual basically stated that one of Bill Clinton's weak points was that when he moved forward sometimes he left some people behind who had helped him rather then move them forward as he progressed towards the presidency.
The author as I recall stated that this because a problem for Clinton because some of these people greatly resented that they had not been sufficiently "rewarded" for the work they had done for Bill. This made them easy prey for people like Scaife who in some cases may have paid them to help smear Clinton during his presidency. In comparison this same person stated that the senior G. Bush used his wealth and position to make sure that anyone in his inner circle or those close to it were rewarded for helping him...to make sure they didn't make problems for him later. (For example...wonder why the Jennifer Fitzgerald story never took off...because there were not enough voices to repeat that story over and over again..)
In the end the author stated the Clinton more than likely made political appointments but he and his staff also tried to make sure they were suited to the jobs they were appointed too. Clinton's lack of wealth also made it hard for him to tuck others away in corporate or even lobbyist jobs... he unlike the Bushies came from a group of working class people..
So now we have Georgie Junior and now that people are reeling at the absolute incompetents that have been granted jobs at FEMA, let us all remember that Bolton and others have been rewarded just as well...
What is really scaring me is what did these people do to help the Bush campaign that they were placed in KEY governmental positions, in spite of their lack of experience, in order to keep them "happy" so they don't pose a threat to the Bush Clan???
