Thousands of deaths in the Dome in NO - not being reported

A relative of mine is a doctor at (Tulane?) hospital in NO.
According to my wife, this relative told her that there have been "thousands" of deaths in the SuperDome and many rapes as well and that these deaths are not being reported by the media.
Many were caused by thirst/stroke/overheating.

This could explain why cameras are not being allowed in some parts.
...and why they are trying to blame Democrats before the numbers are released.

Edit: Yes, this is heresay, but I have no reason to believe that my relative is lying.

That does sound unlikely - are you sure it wasn't 'thousands in NO'? There's been many reports from the Dome, and no-one has claimed 'thousands' of deaths until now.

6. This is the norm with this administration

After the last few big hurricanes down there, many people on DU said that they or people they know saw either hundreds or thousands of dead bodies waiting to be taken off while the media was only reporting two or three hundred total. I was telling my co-worker, someone not involved in politics at all, about it and she said that her mother witnessed the very same thing and none of them could figure out why the cover-up. Since they've been talking about a high estimate this time, I thought they might get be a little more realistic, but as of last night, their official total number was way under 400. BULLSHIT.

7. I heard there was lots of food in the dome

Just this morning a supervisor at my office told me that there were stockpiles of food in the dome, just for this emergency, but they were locked away, and nobody knew they were there. Anybody else hear that?

He said it was on the news, but it was news to me.

sorry, I don't buy it. All those people who came out of the dome have had PLENTY of opportunity to talk about it and all I've heard any of them say is that they were abandoned by their government and they suffered greatly but the reports of violence and rapes WERE GREATLY EXAGGERATED by a media that seems very anxious to paint people of color as wild violent animals that must be feared.

Could we stop helping the media in their quest to demonize the poor and black?
