5. I think we should each visit a church and make prayer requests...

...not only for the victims and refugees of Katrina, but for the Americans and Iraqis killed in the war, for the prisoners tortured and killed in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo, and for so much more. With all the state-sanctioned killing going on, we could use a few blessings.

6. a day of shunning

Last night's Daily Show - Jon Stewart talked about bush calling for the national day of prayer. Then he asked (paraphrasing) 'Isn't a hurricane considered an Act of God? so - shouldn't it be a day of shunning?'

7. The irony is....

....that the National Cathedral is likely one of the most consistently liberal-leaning churches one is likely to find. Sermons are generally anti-war or pro-gay.
