* on 9/11 v. * after Katrina
I heard the sound clip of * 9/11 on NPR this morning. You know the one
"I can hear you. The whole world can hear you. The people who knocked down these buildings will hear us soon."

So I notice that the difference between then and now is so obvious
The 9/11 attack fit perfectly into the burning desire that already existed in *. To attack Iraq and be a permanent War President.
The response was scripted and ready to roll out.

This week, * sees no political profit in Katrina, can't be bothered. Eventually flies over in the taxpayer's 747.
Failed to conceive that there would be huge political damage in allowing thousands of Americans to die of inaction.

Who'd of thought?

1. No, the difference is he can't strike down God.
Both events showed a reprehensibly INCOMPETENT and UNACCOUNTABLE administration. But there's no one to point the finger at for Katrina like there was for 9/11.

2. The political profit from Katrina will be the rewarding of humongous
no-bid, likely unlimited-cost-overrun contracts to Halliburton et al. The Halliburtons of the world will likely receive the lion's share of all monies expended by the Federal government.

3. God...it came true
I recently watched Embedded/Live by Tim Robbins on The Sundance Channel.

There was a sketch there where the masked people (representing Limbaugh, Kristol, Wolfowitz and others...)decided to tell a joke to be kept among themselves....and do you know what the joke was?

It was this:

Do you know why we can't win the War on Poverty?

No.....

Because there's NO MONEY IN IT!

Bush's response was the same...there was no profit in helping New Orleans...either politically or financially.
