The Actual Purpose of FEMA

We need an actual group that deserves the title of FEMA. (Federal Emergency Management Agency).

FEMA's purpose is NOT to manage emergencies. Now, I'm not blaming local or state governments for the failure to protect the people of New Orleans. This is yet another piece of evidence which places the blame squarely on the Federal Government and on the Bush Administration.

FEMA's true purpose is to protect the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. There was a DU post this morning that said only a tiny portion of FEMA's budget is used to protect people when disasters strike. The rest is used to protect the government and the Executive Branch.
