21. Q: 4 yrs after 9/11 nation's response was a debacle.
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 11:57 AM by IdaBriggs
A: The President is going to lead effort to investigate the response to Katrina. In a lot of areas there was a good response. Its the worst national disasters in our nation's history. We must look at the lessons and fully prepare for any attack on our nations including WMD or diseases.

Constructive criticism is good, political talk isn't.

Faith based community leaders are going to lead the way.

ON EDIT: Spelling & Coherency.

great work of first responders.

It will never happen again cause we're taking the fight to the enemy and bringing change to the middle east!

ON EDIT: Here's where he went totally bananas for a bit -- suddenly Katrina was all about how we are making great progress in the Middle East and on the War on Terror. It was ... incoherent.

yes, I know they aren't the worker bees. The worker bees actually know how to do their jobs and don't wash in and out when the Administrations change, unless they get flat-out disgusted with who's in office. Those 20 are some highly incompetent management giving FEMA a very black eye. I pity the grunts; they must be taking this personally and they've known for some time what we're just now finding out.

They got it wrong in NO too, and we didn't need no damn translators for that. They got their "intelligence" by reading the headlines and looking at the pretty pictures above the fold!

Who the HELL does he think he is kidding?

78. "No one could anticipate the breech of the levees ..." really means ...
Everyone is just misunderstanding the Pretzeldent. He really meant they thought they had already dodged the bullet because it happened AFTER the hurricane. Hearing that just means anybody who heard him say it is simply misinterpreting him, because he was talking about how they "dodged the bullet" not that he really meant he didn't think the levees might break.

I'm sick and tired of hearing him talk about how we need to make sure all the resources are put in place to help people. Those resources needed to be in place when the hurricane hit - and trying to hide behind a couple of newspaper headlines is an absolutely irresponsible response.

Someone needs to ask Scottie: "When can we expect the President to address why he did not offer assistance to the City of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana when Mayor begged for help as the levees broke?"

And who...WHO is this wingnut reporter who is obsessed with same-sex marriage?

Eye of Hurricane Katrina

As Hurricane Katrina moves further onshore in the Gulf of Mexico, the squall has been downgraded it to a Category 2 storm, sparing New Orleans the total devastation that was predicted for the city but still causing a number of major disruptions and concerns.

Katrina, which hit land this morning with winds in excess of 145 miles an hour, has caused a number of levees to break in New Orleans, leading authorities to fret over the potential for widespread flooding, though, at the same time, popular areas of the city such as the French Quarter are free from rising water for the time being.

While the hurricane first was predicted to hit New Orleans head-on, it came ashore east of the city.

122. let's pretend for a moment that blivet** gets his information from
McPaper and he thought that. Wouldn't there still need to be a lot of boots on the ground clearing up the mess, and not just in New Orleans? As horrible as the levee breach has been, it's not the only problem left behind by Katrina. Why has the rescue response been so pitiful in Mississippi? Biloxi got creamed and Waveland is flat-out gone. They sure as hell didn't dodge any bullets -- why has the response been so slow?
