Would it be useful to set up a web-accessible database of dead/missing?

If it's not being done already, would it be viable to do this, in hopes of getting a more realistic number? Certainly, this would leave out the homeless, but perhaps an Internet-based count could be used to compare against the official figures coming out. Good idea, or bad?

It was suggested here the other day, and someone posted a link to a blog that already started. But getting the info to those who are missing loved ones with no access to a computer, or who may not know they can post their info, would be part of the effort, I would think.


It would need to be widely advertised, imo. I don't have any computer skills to help with this, but would be happy to help get it to as many people as possible ~

to hide the numbers of dead. This one is going to be left up to the bloggers. DO IT!! And spread the word everywhere!

Since the gov't will try to shut the sites down, we need to have them mirrored overseas, as well.

3. I had planned on doing this

In fact I've got the domain name katrinabodycount.com registered, but the timeline website is just eating up all of my free time and then some.

If anyone is interested in working on it I'm willing to host the site. I just don't have much time to get involve with it

I would love to explore this and see what I can do here. Do you have any specifications or design ideas worked up yet?

Being a poor programmer without much work these days, I've been fretting that there wasn't much I could do. I've written an article calling for Bush's resignation, but I think working on this website would have a greater impact.

7. Nothing planed as of yet

Thats sounds like the same reason that I got involved with doing the timeline. I wanted to do something that this seemed like the best that I can do for right now. I will be going into the area at some point to take the lead on cemetery restoration but thats looking to be quite some time from now. So I do this.

I've really not had any time to really thing about the body count website, just figured that it was something that would need to be done so I registered the domain name My server should be able to host it with no problem and I'm open to whatever anyone has in mind for it.

I just feel that it's something that we need to act on quickly before it's too late. That's assuming that it's not at that point already.

8. I imagine a simple indexed alphabetical listing of...

names, ages, "dead"/"missing" and the city they lived in, along with a simple submission form that would ask for name, age, "dead"/"missing" and full address (street address would be hidden from listing) for cross-verification purposes.

Next to each name in the listing would be a link to another form if somebody wants to dispute or correct a listing, like they have been found alive.

An administrator would have to make a judgment as to what names are included and which are later removed based on disputes.

Anyone have any additional ideas? I'm thinking off the top of my head.

5. Yes, do it and then try to get the AAR radio hosts

to plug it. I think it might be the only way to get an accurate estimate, between the recovered dead and the missing.
