Who would you select to lead an independent investigation of Katrina?
Since we're all calling the senate and congress to give them a piece of our minds and demnad accountability and state that the 9/11 official commission was a shitewash and that we won't stand for anothe one of those in the case of Katrina....

What names should we be dropping for the independent investigation?

However, it's done, we have to insist that the investigators be independent of the federal government. Even Canada investigating might be acceptable.

23. From the Daily Show:

Jon Stewart: The president has vowed to personally lead the investigation into the government's failed response to Katrina? Isn't that a job perhaps someone else should be doing?

Samantha Bee: No, not at all, Jon. To truly find out what went wrong, it's important for an investigator to have a little distance from the situation. And it's hard to get any more distant from it than the president was last week.

They were never serious at finding out the truth, and there were so many omissions, that their report was a farce! They were set-up to find out what corrections could be made in the future, and not to find out who was to blame.

75. I honestly believe that most DUers are more informed than most members
of Congress. It is either that they are too lazy and just buy official lines or don't want to for other reasons. I see this time and time again when politicians/pundits are interviewed by the media. I find myself yelling out at the screen, but this happened and that happened! Why don't they appear to know???

It also seems that when someone of "authority" does make the brave move that Ms. Pelosi made in regard to calling ** dangerous, a great many DUer will make that person of the moment a national hero (we are that desperate to hear the Truth made public), when this person, often due to their neglect (wanton or otherwise), has assisted us in getting into this hole that we are now in. Very often these same politicians will then shift back a couple of steps, and start towing the partyline again.

How many times does the person of the hour get a thread (fill in the blank) for President? Then sometime later, they disappoint. And in Pelosi's case, she delighted me by calling ** what he is, and then she makes that assinine Dangerous statement about seating the whole 9/11 c"Ommission" again. I don't trust her one bit.

Three of these folks are among the notable (because of their scarcity) more or less conservative types and I believe they would lend the proper gravitas to the investigation.

I think appointing blatant ideologues from either side would be a big mistake.
