1. Honore has a good heart
He'll do tremendous good for the spirits of the people who had to leave these poor animals, not to mention saving so many of the dogs and cats stuck in the affected areas.

2. Yes he does. The story about him helping the woman with the two babies
touched me deeply. He has the right energy for this job.

3. Jack's been very good that last week or so!
I know most call him an old curmudgeon, but Jock doesn't pull any punches. If he thinks something's BS, that's exactly what he says!

He sure hasn't gone easy on Brown today!

Just now, after a speach by Schumer, Jack said "Why can't these guys just say "I want the guy fired!" Why do they have to tiptoe around with the PC talk? Wolfe said "He's a lawyer Jack!"

I haven't always agreed with Jack, but I like his crass say it like it is words!

6. Did Honore overrule Mayor Nagin?
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 05:08 PM by CottonBear
I understand Nagin's plight (diseased animals which are possibly dangerous, diseased or contagious) but I believe that Honore knows it would be best to save as many pets as possible. Many may still die, especially those which have been swimming in the fetid water.

7. I would think if Honore wants to rescue the pets, he will rescue the pets.
BTW...they have been decontaminating the pets already collected.

14. Exactly right
They need to help save the animals who are left before they, too, end up as bodies to be disposed of, anyway. One way or the other, they must deal with them. Why not save them? It could make all the difference in the emotional state of a dog's person should they be reunited. Just the chance of that happening makes it a worthwhile endeavor. The animals depend on us. We cannot let them down.

And, I have to say, I don't see why the saving of the animals and the recovery of bodies couldn't occur simultaneously. Finding animals may lead to the recovery of more bodies and vice-versa. Many people did not leave NO because of their pets. If everyone keeps their eyes open, searching for one may accidentally lead them to discovering more of the other. They need to stay in close contact with each other.

16. The dead will still be dead
Sorry to sound so heartless but in three days, the dead will still be dead and can be collected and buried with dignity at that time. In three days, many of these animals will be dead as well. There will be time for mourning after the living have been rescued but there is still time to save the living animals right now.

I held my tongue while everyone said people come before animals - fine I can live with that. But dead anything doesn't come before living anything. Where's that "culture of life" mentality now?

17. Who is going to pay to feed and take care of the animals?
I wish some of the posters here would answer that.
