HOUSTON -- Houston police arrested a convicted sex offender who they said sexually assaulted and beat an elderly woman inside her north Houston home, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.

Dale Bryan Marsh, 47, was arrested at 12:05 a.m. Friday and charged with aggravated sexual assault of an elderly person.

Officers with the Houston Police Department Sex Crimes Unit said evidence inside the 80-year-old woman's home on Burress Street placed Marsh at the scene of the attack, which occurred at about 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 30.

Investigators said Marsh lives next door to the woman.
