The 32 patients that were abandoned in the Nursing

Home is going to turn out to be a big story, I have a feeling.

The staff abandoned the patients after several calls for help to evacuate the patients went unheeded. It hasn't been mentioned in any stories I've seen yet, but I'm speculating that the patients were euthanized by the staff before they were abondoned.

This is another reason for "Hesitant" Bush to rot in hell. On his watch, people were forced to euthanize these patients, and now these staff members will spend the rest of their lives being accused and prosecuted and feeling conflicted about doing something that I'm sure they felt they had no choice about doing.

1. I'm not so sure about this...

I think one of those patients was the mother the Jefferson Parish president spoke about on Meet the Press. He said she drown on Friday (after she called her son on Friday morning pleading for somebody to send help). How did the staff get out on that Friday without the patients?

2. Euthanized , feeling ...

I'm not trying to be an ass, but, are there any facts to back up that feeling ... ?

Instead of blaming the staff it might be wiser to ask why the nursing home owner did not evacuate.

All of the details have not been brought forward yet.....and we can't be sure that they ever will.

However, if you saw that the water was rising, whether swiftly or slowly, and you started to realize that help wasn't coming to evacuate the patients, euthanasia might be considered a merciful option.

4. I doubt they euthanized them.

More likely they planned to send a boat for them, but that didn't happen.

Still, if they were alive Friday morning, and THEN drowned... how did that happen? The water stopped rising long before then.

Clearly, more investigation is needed...

8. The levy broke after the storm....

then the water flood happened.

11. Flooding happened late Monday or Tuesday.

But it had long since peaked by Friday. Those old people weren't lying in their beds as the water rose on FRIDAY, that's for sure. Though they might have gone for help and fallen in.

Might explain why the Bushistas want complete control over this whole disaster (no autopsies). Some investigated reporter should try to locate members of that nursing home staff and ask them some questions.

Euthanizing the patients! Come On.......

The staff did not abandon the patients either. Look at the protocol for fire evacuation....you do what you can then leave! Thats what the staff was left to do. The Captain Ahab thinking is just ridiculous.

Maybe the staff did all they could do....If the staff did abandon the patients, I'm sure it was a wrenching decision made in desperation after several days of pleading for help in evacuating went unheeded.

Euthanizing the patients was done as a last act of mercy.

10. Let me say this......

I have been an RN for a long time and have worked a bit in long term care. First of all, there isn't anything to use to Euthanize patients, especially 30 of them!Secondly, I wouldn't know where to begin let alone have that thought cross my mind. It would of been difficult enough just prepare for the worst with ID's and the toe tags.

Euthanizing is totally a fantasy from TV.
