"The people will rise up in 20 years"
A friend's college-aged son told me that his poli-sci professor said that in a lecture yesterday. This professor is an independent, but has really influenced this kid who thinks Repub is the way to go (his dad is Repub and that always seems to make the kid a Repub until they hear the other side).

This kid is great anyway, and likes to get a rise out of me, but I feel he listens and takes my words and mulls over them.

Any hooo... the professor told his students that the people of America are going to see that the government, as a whole, is corrupt and within 20 years will rise up.

I told him that I felt the disaster of Katrina and the ineptitude of our government is a catalyst that will cause anarchy a lot sooner.

Really left the kid silent. Now I wonder if he is going to bring this up with his professor in his next class, and how this guy will respond.

2. No.
No group of villains has ever been able to hold power forever. If they are theocrats, eventually their imaginary god fails them and they fall. If they follow a dictator, eventually he stumbles and they fall. If they are crony capitalists, eventually they anger the people AND. THEY. FALL.

The death of hope is how the other side wins.

6. Hey, welcome! :)
I agree and that's a wonderful quote:"The death of hope is how the other side wins."

You are exactly right. After reading so many stories here of 'I was a Republican/Freeper' I have hope.

I see the Republicans enraged at the federal government and I have hope.

I see our own citizens go down and pull people out of the hellhole that much of NO has become, and I have hope.

I come here, and I read, and I have hope...
