Back in '98 Majorie McKeithen, the daughter of the popular, late SOS Fox McKeithen came very closer to unseating Baker. He's not unbeatable so a good challenge against him shouldn't be ruled out.

The staff woman was on the defense and said he'd issued a statement (which I'd read on his website) saying he was mis-understood. I told her I understood exactly what he said.

God has provided the "final solution" for these racist bastards. Rebuild the city with separate by equal facilities ( white and black water fountains, busses, restrooms, restaurant sections, on and on and on. Just like the 1950's and sixties. Openly and without shame.

Does Dr. Dean still believe that attracting the white pick-up truck voters who display confederate flag stickers on there rear windows and bumpers would be good for the democratic party? The flood pool of waters that have stagnated and become a lethal toxic putrefied sea of sludge still covering much of New Orleans is still too good for vermin like U.S. Rep. Richard Baker, R-Baton Rouge and all those who support his political agenda.

On the radio they were talking about a beagle named Abby who was going to get adopted and how they were going make a documentary on the adoption. They said Abby was one of the few animals that survived the floodwaters in an animal hospital/shelter. She was found in her cage and must have been treading water for at least six hours. The people that worked at the shelter said that at worse, she appeared thinner. So the idiot female radio commentator said that she could see an exercise fad come out of this that involved water and a cage. Basically, she was implying that you either swim for exercise and lose weight or drown.

14. I hate to have to say it but I'm afraid you are correct.

I just got off the phone with my longtime friend from New Orleans. He comes from a 3rd-4th generation family, upper class etc.

I'm not going to go into the details of the conversation, I'm really just a little too sick at heart right now, the jist of it is though, there are many that see this disaster as a stroke of rather good fortune, kinda like finally, whew. Let someone else deal with "them" for awhile and let's hope wherever "they" are "they" stay there.

Sad, sad, so sad. He wants to go to work with FEMA, always one to see the "silver lining", "there is tons of money to be made in rebuilding New Orleans and I'd kinda like to be part of the rebuilding, but that's the "bleeding heart" liberal in me....."

I'm not certain quite how much longer this friendship of 20+ years is going to last.

Like I said, I'm heartsick.

(Luckily for he and his family, they have the wherewithal to weather this storm, the finances to rebuild wherever they want and move on)
