Anyone else troubled by the 4th Judicial Circuit ruling today?

This Court of Appeals basically said that it was ok for the President to hold an American citizen, captured on US soil, indefinately with NO indictment, NO right to council, NO right to speedy trial--and on what basis? Because the President decided said person was an "enemy combatant".

I'm not defending Jose Podilla-I don't know what did or did not happen. But as an American citizen, he should have the rights of all American citizens. If it is proven in a court of law he did something treasonous, then and only then should he be serving time.

What I'm really worried about is whether the SC will concur with the 4th Circuit. Will this mean that the President will have free reign to designate anyone as an "enemy combatant" and ship them off to an unknown fate? Sounds more like Stalin and the gulags than the USA, imho.

10. Very troubling, indeed. If a court can decide that a citizen has

no constitutional rights to a trial, to a lawyer, etc., etc., then we certainly have put the Constitution through the shredder. Once we have done this, what is left of America? Nothing.

Another troubling question -- isn't one of the justices who decided this one of the possible Supreme Court nominees?

12. Yeah, the 4th. Circuit ruling said something about allowable in a

time of war. Proves their 'activist' judges, since Congress is the only place to declare a war and there has been no declaration of any war since Chimpy became a squatter in the WH.
