Open letter to Gov. Dean. Now is the time.
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 06:48 PM by Vincardog
Dr. Dean:
Now it the time. Commander Bunny pants has shown his gross incompetence racism and cronyism clearly and publicly. Now is the time for REAL DEMOCRATIC OPPOSITION to stand up and speak clearly.

When the fascist corporatists sign bills removing wage protection from relief efforts Where is the Democratic Response?

When the cronies are exposed as the embezzlers and frauds that they are WHERE IS THE DEMOCRATIC RESPONSE?

When the Radical Rights's policies run their course and FEMA actually PREVENTS aid from reaching American Citizens,
WHERE IS THE DEMOCRATIC RESPONSE?

Now it the time to stop all but the most essential government operations. Filibuster ALL of little george's nominations.
Stop the Radical Right in its tracks and refuse to be complicit in the corporatizaton of America.

Demand a tax on all excess corporate profits.
Demand a Public Works Program to rebuild The Gulf Coast.

Demand NOW the Impeachment of The resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and his whole corrupt cabal.

Demand a full and complete accounting of the 200 Billion shipped to Iraq as well as the Billions already allocated to the Katrina effort.

We can not afford another day, hour or minute of the corrupt empire of little king george. Now it the time.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

23. "Now is the time" is from "I have a Dream"
http://www.mecca.org/~crights/dream.html

"We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of God's children. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood...."

3. Politicians are not going to "rescue us," this time.
The media is not the calvary, either.

We are on our own.

6. Kicked. Need to spell and grammar check it.
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 06:36 PM by longship
A good rant. Here's some corrections...

Crones ==> cronies
(caps and typo)

==> When the fascist corporatists sign...
or ==> When the fascist corporatist signs...

FFEMA ==> FEMA

george's ==> George's
(cap)

Stop the radical right in it's tracks ==> in its tracks
("it's" is a contraction for "it is")

==> Lead, follow, or get out of the way. (punc)

10. He has been speaking out all week. Loudly today.
Where have you been, and why aren't you paying attention? Pelosi called Bush dangerous...when asked to apologize she said she was being nice.

Dean hit him hard several times this week. Have you not been paying attention?

Dean is leading. He has been.

19. I am not talking about speeches. Where is the action?
Are they going to appoint Roberts? Are they going to allow the uncontrolled fleecing america at the DOD and FEMA to continue?
Are they going to force the outrageous Bankruptcy bill to be rescinded?

I Love to see anybody speak truth to power.

Now is the time for ACTION.
I'm just saying.

14. They will replay "The Situation Room" with Dean on CNN tomorrow
Gov. Dean was very strong and outspoken, even though Wolf Blitzer pushed Howard pretty far and was grilling him with RW talking points. Dean didn't apologize for any of his statements this week.

I hope you get a change to watch it.

17. Do Your Part: Sign this Petition
If you haven't seen this posted yesterday you need to. Dr. Dean needs our support and this site will help his and his brother Jim's efforts to yank accountability out of this regime.

http://tools.democracyforamerica.com/petition/katrina/

About DFA:

"Who heads Democracy for America?
James H. Dean, Chairman
As the chair of Democracy for America (DFA), Jim Dean is committed to carrying on what his brother, Governor Howard Dean, started - strengthening grassroots participation; and the recruitment and election of fiscally responsible and socially progressive candidates to all levels of government. This is a long-term investment that will pay off if we are willing to stand up for what we believe in and support candidates at every level of political office.

Jim has been working with Democracy for America since it was founded last March. He previously worked on Howard Dean's presidential campaign, beginning in early 2002. Jim has been responsible for a variety of campaign functions including but not limited to fundraising, surrogate activities, political organizing in his home state of Connecticut, and supporting several additional DFA state organizations.

Jim has also always been an active fundraiser for Governor Howard Dean, including his eleven years as Governor of Vermont, and prior four years as Lieutenant Governor. Both Jim and his wife, Virginia worked full time on Howard Dean's first race for Lieutenant Governor in 1986.

Prior to the Presidential Campaign, Jim worked in the Marketing Research business holding various positions, including business development, marketing, and sales at both Yankelovich Partners Inc. and Greenfield Online Inc. "

22. John Edwards has demanded a public works program
http://www.oneamericacommittee.com/

We ought to give them the chance to help through a New America Initiative, modeled after the Works Progress administration, to rebuild a devastated region and offer good-paying jobs and hope to the displaced. Join me and say no to President Bush's failed leadership in a growing call to take this tragedy and turn it into an opportunity. It is not enough to talk about it; we will have to show this Administration that the real leadership means visionary action. You, one by one, can increase the power of the call to action by signing my New America petition here:

Join me as I call for President Bush to create this initiative.

Every single signature increases the power of the call and the chance for real hope for our brothers and sisters. If anything good can come from this terrible tragedy, it can be a New Orleans and a Gulf Coast that represent the one America we all believe in, not the two Americas we've seen on television for the last ten days. And the way to build that one America is to help the victims of Katrina take control of their own destiny, with good jobs that contribute to the cause.

it won't matter. I like your ideas, but the DEM leaders in congress have told Dean NOT to comment on policy.

27. Unfortunately other than the Black Caucus (with a few exceptions)
everyone has bought into the Dean is crazy meme, or are part of the DLC cabal. Reid and Pelosi basically told Dean to build the party and leave policy to them. And then there is the media problem. Wolfie did it again on CNN today when he was interviewing John Edwards - he said Dean said GWB doesn't care about black folks or some such. I saw Wolfie's interview with Dean and that is not what Dean said. Kayne WEst, yes, not Dean.
