Is my friend a semi-freeper?

I have this friend who lives in Florida, but I see her now and then. One time I mentioned something about Jeb Bush and she said "Oh, I think he's doing a good job." :shrug: That made me a little wary.

She's the type of person who should actually be a liberal:
- she's on disability
- she has taken the morning after pill
- her husband just lost 75% of his pension due to airline bankruptcy
- she's struggling financially

So I spent some time with her and wanted to gently find out.

I saw a sign on the road that could be interpreted in 2 different ways. ANd I said, "That reminds me of a picture I saw on the internet," and I described this:

Well, I was driving, and I didn't look over at her, and I changed the subject.

I'll welcome her into the fold when she is ready :)

2. Well a true freeper will argue with you

She's like my Repuke friend, who voted for * because "he makes me feel safe". Whenever she said that she'd revert to this breathly little girl voice. Sickening :puke: But it makes sense because she's the type of woman that gravitates toward strong-seeming caretaker men. Not that I'm saying * is like that in any way but she thinks he is. That "strong on defense" stuff was big with her.

Anyway, all the rest of our little group supported Kerry but if we ever brought up politics around her she'd get all pouty and accuse of being insensitive to her. Like we were insulting her personally by insulting the Chimperor. Plus, she frankly couldn't muster a decent argument or defense of him. She's someone who votes on her feelings and identity and the GOP is really good at manipulating those things.

Keep working on her but tread carefully around anything that might touch on her self image.

I don't know if my friend gravitates toward caretaker men, but her husband is quite a bit older. He also has a miltary background in his distant past, and that may be part of the equation.

I will tread lightly. Because to her credit, she is not bringing up her politics to me, and she probably knows that we disagree.

It sounds as though she is more likely just a non-thinking, gullible republican. A freeper, or even a semi-freeper, would have responded to your intelligent comments with a foul and furious tirade filled with lies. That type of behavior is what distinguishes freepers from decent Americans. That and the fact that freepers are coprophagic.

I'm sure ther eare many freepers out there who are struggling financially, as well as many liberals who are doing ok for themselves. To decide that someone should be of one political party or another just because of their life circumstances is a little narrowminded.

- Bush is trying to get rid of Social Security, which funds disability
- Bush is trying to get rid of abortion and any pill related to it
- I don't know how the govt played into the airline declaring bankrupty not having to be responsible to its pensioners
- ANd does BUsh like poor people?

It goes back to that thing about "Why would a person vote so totally against their best interest?"

I have a couple of relatives who could care less about politics. They don't like talking about it and will leave the room. It's not denial...they have no interest in it at all.
