Target The Media Effectively
Slash/dot* the mainstream media
email Anderson Cooper
I believe that Anderson Cooper (CNN Reporter) was one of the first to actually be honest and actually report what is happening in New Orleans. We have a chance of persuading him and CNN to continue to report the truth! This is the proper function of the media.
It is imperative that the MSM continue to tell the truth and report
what really is happening!

Dear Anderson
cc; Anderson Cooper's boss
subject: r/e Katrina - thank you for your honest reporting
For the first time in 2 years, I am now turning the channel to CNN.
I had given up on watching the news on television, including CNN,
finding that it was nothing but entertainment, sound bites, and propaganda.
I saw you down there in the water, in New Orleans,
you talked about the human suffering, the dead bodies,
the starving animals, and you got my attention. You told the truth.
I kept CNN on almost all day. I am watching it today!
I urge you to continue to present the news in this objective and factual manner.
If you do so, CNN will become the number one news channel in the US. I will be one of your biggest fans.
I will also write to your commercial sponsors to share my appreciation.
Keep up the good work.
Regards,

*What is the "Slashdot Effect?"
We are not seeking to cause denial of service, but to be more effective by focusing our voices in a massive outcry
to one influential individual or group, rather than acting in a scattershot fashion, barely affecting anyone.
When Slashdot links a site, often a lot of readers will hit the link to read the story or see the purty pictures. This can easily throw thousands of hits at the site in minutes. Most of the time, large professional websites have no problem with this, but often a site we link will be a smaller site, used to getting only a few thousand hits a day. When all those Slashdot readers start crashing the party, it can saturate the site completely, causing the site to buckle under the strain. When this happens, the site is said to be "Slashdotted."
