Our small contribution to Katrina Victims
My girlfriend today jumped up after watching Howard Dean and some other news and said "fuck this I'm not sitting around here I just saw a little girl on tv who was talking about how she lost her house and toys I'm taking today off to do something."

Well we have 800+ evacuees here in Tucson so we raided our pantry and Jojo (my gf) raided her closet and came out with a garbage bag full of clothes and cuddly things.

I must have found about 10 cans of chicken and steak soup that I am never gonna eat due to the fact that I've gone vegetarian for the last couple of months.

I personally feel guilty that I didn't think of this sooner man we had all sorts of canned goods that I know we're never going to eat.

We delivered it to our local Trader Joe's which is delivering the goods directly to evacuees at convention center here in Tucson

And of course guess who got to carry it all :)

Well I just posted this as a little booster to you all I'm sure most if not all of you here have contributed a little something to help out the victims of this tragedy

2. Cool!
Way to go!

We did the same thing here. I emptied my cabinets of things we don't eat then went to the store and loaded the grocery cart. The backseat and trunk of our car was filled. Both kids had to sit up front.

We took everything to a semi-truck that was headed to Louisiana.

I know money is important to give, but having tangible items like this feels great because you know they will wind up in the hands of someone who really needs help.

4. I feel so much better giving tangible items than money
I just prefer it because like you said you know for a fact it's gonna be used if anything for someone who needs it more than I do.
