Doing Hall duty today said coworker

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4683792

confronted me and said he didn't appreciate my blabbing all over school about what he said I mistook... ha fat chance...

I told ONE admin and one friend

he must have gotten called on the carpet...

said he loved our kids and has been there for 8 years and have had chances to leave and hasn't. I said I had been there for 6 years and all my students have my heart

I again told him that it was not funny and that even in jest it was not funny and he should know better.

he never gave up, but I didn't either

he left agreeing it was tactless

2. I admire the way you stand up for yourself without knocking others down.

3. this second time I was pretty pissed and started to raise my voice
until I looked and saw many kids.

I ended it before I really wanted to, but it wasn't the time or place

4. here is origional confrontation
was making copies for my students the next hour of news articles about Katrina for current events discussion

another teacher was in and he asked me.

"do you think those that didn't leave NO were just waiting for their welfare check"

that was all it took.

I said the following:

"excuse me, I can't believe you would be that heartless"

he said again "well don't you think so"

I said
"those people have no money, no cars, no gas, no credit cards and no where to go. Where do you suppose they go? I then said "did you know that some turned down help because they thought it would cost them and they couldn't afford it" They thought they were going to die

He said..No where did you hear that.

I replied "if you would bother to watch anything other than fox news you would have heard it on any other station.

I then said "I HOPE YOU ARE NOT TAKING THOSE FEELINGS INTO YOUR CLASSROOM. 80% OF OUR STUDENTS ARE IN THE WELFARE SYSTEM AND PROBABLY 15% HAVE FAMILY MEMEBERS MISSING IN NO"

he stuttered and stammered and I was so disgusted I just had to leave the copy room and go back to my room and cool down before students came in

jebus are some people so cruel.

from now on, I will call him sean jr

7. They're not EVEN trying to hide it anymore!
GF's co-worker made a crack today about "Young women getting pregnant and going on Welfare..." Self-identified as a ReTHUGlican and an "extreme" conservative.

I asked my GF "Did you tell her she is a damn FOOL after she admitted her stupidity to you?"

8. Your GF should tell her that it only looks that way because rich, white
chicks just get an abortion, so it's kind of disproportionate at first glance.
