For those who do not know, this is exactly how Hip-Hop got it start! I know most of the music that is out today claims to be Hip-Hop, but that is just rap music! See the difference is Hip-Hop is what you live and rap is what you do! The struggles in the black communities is what gave birth to Hip-Hop! At one time, Hip-Hop was known as the news to the ghetto. Back in the day, artist would go out on street corners and rhyme over instrumentals. They would either battle another artist (artist would take turns rhyming about each other, never getting physical). Or, they would talk about what was going on in the world at that time. Ironically enough, Hip-Hop got its start during the Reagan era.

Now Kanya has brought it back to its root, with this song. You see, for those who do not know, Hip-Hop was all about bringing people together, having a good time, and learning something through music. This is why I say, much of the music today, to me, does not represent Hip-Hop.

3. On the nail.
Artists like Kanye West, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Tupac, Dilatede Peoples, Common; Jadakiss, and The Roots are true hip hop. Not garbage like 50 Cent.

5. Agreed, Kanye is waking up that white suburban teenage boy
and that is just devastating for Bushco.

They are not getting away with shit! Black culture plays too large a role in American history for Bush to treat Black Americans with such disrespect.

Fuck Bush, the majority of America is past that kind of racism.

19. Yes.
"Fuck Bush, the majority of America is past that kind of racism."

And I really think homophobia is dying as well. It's "The Stand" and we are in Denver. Black culture is OUR culture, the U.S. It is one but their racist perceptions make them think that it is separate. They are in for a rude awakening.

13. OMG people, this is NOT Kanye West!
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 01:20 AM by targetpractice
This is *REMIX* of Kanye West's new song "Gold Digger" by The Lengendary K.O.

The remix lyrics are by Big Mon and Damien a/k/a Dem Knock-Out Boyz. Although the lyrics of this remix are not by Kanye West, they were inspired by his unscripted comments during the NBC telethon.

Someone on another thread said Kanye authorized and produced this remix, but I don't think so -- I may be wrong.

In any case... Kanye West contributed the opening quote "George Bush doesn't care about black people" and background beat, Ray Charles has been sampled for the background refrain "She gives me money when I'm in need" from his song "I Got a Woman".

That said, Kanye West did speak "truth to power" and is an amazing talent.

15. You know what? You're right!
After listening to it again, I had the volume of my speaker down low. At first I questioned whether or not that first dude was Kanye, but assumed it was him, mainly because of the beat. I thought it was him, but changed his sound a little. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Needless to say, they still took it back to the roots of Hip-Hop.

14. Hmm....who doesn't listen to hip hop regularly....I wonder.....
I'm glad you guys are all excited about Kanye and the song, but this is NOT KANYE rapping.

NOT.

I've seen two or three threads now where people are confusing the two, and it's kind of umm....stop doing that, LOL!

The song is very cool though. Forwarded it to everyone.

18. Yeah! My bad!
I heard it one time with the volume real low, didn't want to wake the wife and daughter. For some reason, I thought the dude rhyming last was Kanye. I knew it was his beat, I also thought it was him. After reading an earlier post, and listening to it a second time. I realized it wasn't Kanye. Again, my bad! Didn't mean to add to the hysteria.
