The chart topping hip hop rapper star who used a network hurricane fundraiser to charge "George Bush doesn't care about black people" was loudly and lustily booed during last night's NFL kickoff show.

The appearance of Kanye West, who was beamed into the Boston stadium via remote from Los Angeles, received a strongly negative response from the crowd.

"The boos were thunderous and lasted for much of his number," reports the BOSTON GLOBE.

In Boston, the only good thing is that many people like me at least ADMIT they are racist now. I took the bias test that was posted here that few people wanted to discuss the results of. My result was "moderately favors white faces" - I was a bit disturbed by the result at first, but then I had to admit to myself that is was probably true. As a child I went to schools in all black neighborhoods in Roxbury - my parents wanted me to have an open-minded view of the world. This was before forced busing mind you. My friends were a mixture of all races back in my mixed neighborhood and at school. There were very few problems until we all hit puberty. Like it or not, peer pressure can be a major influence in ones life as a teenager. On top of that, I could never understand why my black friends started treating me like I was some sort of elitist or something - the comments were awful and they didn't want to hang with me even though I still had an open mind to it :( It was very discouraging. :( I learned to avoid both the angry white & black people. There was also always a battle between the IC's (Irish Catholics) and the black community - these were the parents from a previous generation where prejudice and bigotry were simply an accepted birthright - there was no talking to these people and they certainly had no desire to see things get better - they simply said awful rotten things when racial issues came up. The thing that surprised me the most as I look back was how much the prejudice worked both ways - and how much it had nothing to do with skin color per se, there was a need to be "cool" and accepted by your peers - this seemed to influence people more than anything else. It was almost like is was more of a big deal that you would lose friends and reduce chances with the opposite sex than any real hatred of different races. There were of course many who bucked the trend and dated inter-racially - this would get the ire up of the older folks who really were bigots. Anyway, I clearly can't get into the kind of detail here to cover all the sociological issues involved so don't give me a rash of crap about my language or an issue I only touched on. Whatever you do, don't think that racial issues don't exist in Boston any less than anywhere else. People living next to each other still don't necessarily talk to one another. :(
