2. Other then they had 25k body bags & just ordered MORE?
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 05:19 AM by WePurrsevere
50k more body bags for BOTH Iraq and Hurricane victims... BOTH of those numbers are pizzing me off.

Somebodies either very very bad at math or downright LYING... with the Gov it could be either but with THIS Admin.... pfft!

That point alone needs to be pounded by whichever media bunch(s?) seems to have grown brass ones finally.

3. I think it's damage control.
It's so the we'll complacently accepted the final death toll as, hell that's ain't so bad. Not gonna happen. Not with the photojournalists diligently documenting the people and the horror. The bloggers have sent for their own people to cover this nightmare. So, like, who are we going to believe, Bush spin or our lying eyes?

5. it is the headline of a criminal trying to hide his crime.
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 05:43 AM by flordehinojos
whenever the death toll in any hurricane reaches 10, 12, or 13, we talk about the incredible high number of people who died in a hurricane ....... when it goes into the thousands, particularly and especially, due to the stupidity, incompetence, mishandling, and perhaps even criminal neglect of one's own government...the number is totally breathtaking, but more breathtaking than that is the fact that they are trying to minimize it by saying "death toll might not hit 10,000."

So to answer your question the headline is the criminal trying to hide his crime.

7. They are "reframing" the disaster.
I watched the clip from BBC and a Dr on it said there were thousands of bodies, so, the final number will be interesting. But hey, if they continue to drag their feet on the recovery, how many will sink? be eaten, washed out to sea? etc........not heard much at all about the small villages of Vietnamese in the gulf that are now wiped out. Where are their body counts?

8. We were wondering about the small villages, too
........not heard much at all about the small villages of Vietnamese in the gulf that are now wiped out. Where are their body counts?

A lot of them lived on their boats or very small houses almost on the water in Mobile. (Bayou La Batre is where I know this for certain)

I assume it was this way across the coast.

What has happened to all of these people?

10. When they said 10k they re-framed it!
That tactic was for shock value, so if they report they only have 2k bodies you feel better about it.

9. Just trying to make the mayor look like an alarmist.
So, what if the death toll ends up at 9,734? Does that mean it's now acceptable?

11. I don't believe this spin
Just call me a cynic, but, personally, I don't believe any of this spin.

Considering 25,000 body bags were ordered to the area, according to reports, and one funeral director was apparently told by the feds to "expect up to 40,000 bodies" I think we have to take these claims as just that, claims.

We have to remember that there has been a virtual gag order on the press, and no photos are allowed to be taken either. There is, it seems to me a cover up going on here to try and take the heat off the Bush regime.

13. Two words for them...PROVE IT!
I don't believe a single thing that comes out like this. One or two spokes people say something like this, and within 1/2 hour it's being trumpeted from every single media horn there is.

1) Not one of those media outlets had time to do any independent research.

2) We have heard no corroborating evidence from any other sources.

Pfft....
again: PROVE IT!!

17. They will never give us the real amount of dead victims.
There have been a few reporters who have said that no one will tell them what the death count is so far. This is something that they CAN cover up without us knowing. The survivors are scattered all over the country and there is no way for the media to figure out how many actually died. That is if they really wanted to find out the truth.
