Loyalty is the more treasured asset. Just as when Poppy Bush nominated Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court and Dan Quayle for his VP. In this respect, the apple hasn't fallen too far from the tree with Gee Dubya. As Repubs defend him with, "he's the president and he can choose whomever he wants" bullshit. And we all have to suffer with those choices. It gives new reverence to "advice and consent" by the Senate. And now, the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts...
