I don't own a TV. Is there video of this, really? I never believed this. My own intuition was...
1. People trying to get attention of rescuers, not shooting at them.
2. Law enforcement shooting in air to warn victims to stay out of their towns (Gretna Bridge incident where the sheriff's deputies blocked access to dry land from victims).
3. People protecting their property from looters with shots in the air.
4. People shooting at alligators and other wild animals. The German newspaper Stern got into NO with a boat and has picture of an alligator that was shot to death inside a home. (Stern.de)
Gen. Honore said this wasn't true, didn't he? The few interviews I've seen by Coast guard personnel didn't confirm this.
"Contractors" repairing the levee reported being shot at but this was an anonymous report (Plus it may have been a Halliburton contractor, so you can trust the source).
I don't think it was widespread. Jesse Jackson said, it's the military, just put on your flak jacket and rescue.
I want to make sure the video is there before I confront the radio station.
Edit: I think the impression I got was they were shooting at helicopters. This is different than looters fighting with law enforcement.
