I really don't know
But many people who get arrested at protests were just simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. Either they stepped into the street by mistake after a cop told everybody to stay on the sidewalk, or they just got caught up in something that they were not involved in.

21. Sometimes you have to take one for the team
Or in this case, the country.

I'm not saying to purposely get arrested but things can get chaotic. If you're the type of person who remains in the background, odds are you won't get arrested. Or if you're like me, who gets carried away with all the chaos, then your chances of getting arrested increase.

28. Find out where the permit is for
And for God's sakes, stay in that area. The last time the protests at the world bank were here, anyone who strayed outside the designated area and caused trouble were just rounded up and sent to jail. More than a few people who weren't even part of the protest were rounded up, too. They were arresting 600 people at a time, regardless of whether or not all 600 were breaking a law.

If you are mistakenly arrested, it will take at least 24 hours to get out of holding. The last time they did a mass round up most people didn't have to post bail, and most weren't convicted, but they did have to return for a court date. If you get rounded up, prepare to be incovenienced.

And don't, like some protesters did, blow air horns at the police horses. It scares them, it's cruel, and it's a misdemeanor. The horses don't have any idea what's going on, so punishing them doesn't make any sense.

13. What I'm bringing
comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunglasses, water, sandwich, and sunscreen. I sometimes bring a camera. I put ID and some cash in my pocket. I try to keep it very light and not bring anything valuable that I don't want to lose. Remember that restrooms are scarce and have long lines.
