Don't fucking tell me this isn't about race
http://www.tpmcafe.com/story/2005/9/10/94823/6592#centercol

See Denise Moore’s story , for instance. Or you can read
this account from two San Francisco paramedics, Larry Bradshaw and Lorrie Beth Slonsky: sheriffs even fired their weapons over their heads to dissuade the crowd from going ahead. The police explained that they wanted “no Superdomes in their city".

4. It's about race
and eugenics and killing the poor. Bush and his buddies are INTO eugenics, thier policies reflect thier hate..they are racist thugs who hate the underclass especially the brown shaded underclass.
A racist need not be southern and ignorant.. Hitler used people like the rednecks as bootboys.. But in hitlers closest cabal were the educated decadent elitists.Euginics is an AMERICAN invention.Hitler copied AMERICAN racists.

My husband told me a little story about a small town in LA, He said he watched the local sheriff shoot and kill his own nephew because he had asked him why he had beaten the hell of his friend. My husband told me that he ran over to help the sheriffs nephew and when he did, the sheriff told him "motherfucker if you touch him, I'll kill you too".

My husband said he was harassed so bad that he packed his bags a week later and left La.

I believe what my husband told me, he was crying as he related the story to me. I would never travel to LA with him while he was alive because of my fear for what would happen. My son has relatives in La. that he will never know because of the racism that is practiced there.

15. Millions More March on Wash. D.C. to commemorate the Million Man March
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 09:20 PM by oasis
10 years ago, is scheduled for weekend of Oct 16th. This event was in the planning for months but I'm sure Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Farrakhan and others will have plenty to say about the Bush failures in regards to hurricane Katrina.

This will follow the Sept 24th protest in D.C.

C-SPAN will be very busy.

26. My point is that I think the GOP thinks that people *will* partially...
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 09:44 PM by stevietheman
excuse the response if they try to get people in the mindset that "oh there wasn't much we could do for people so poor they couldn't just drive out of the city...even the city response plan didn't have an idea what to do with them". Of course this is bogus, as there is absolutely *NO* excuse for not getting supplies *at least* to the Superdome and the Convention Center on *TUESDAY*, not three days later on *FRIDAY*.

Please... we cannot let the Repubs spin this away from the FACT that Bush's FEMA starved the people in the SuperDome and Convention Center.

It *DOESN'T MATTER* how poor people got stuck in NOLA, it's that the feds *KNEW* they were there and *DIDN'T HELP THEM*.

CASE CLOSED, as far as I'm concerned.

(sorry for the rant... I just felt like ranting about the sh*thead-in-chief)

17. It was about race, and class, and
the frailty of the human condition. Great challenges call forth the best in people (Anderson Cooper, countless other named and unnamed heroes) and the worst(Barbara Bush, "Brownie", various cowards and thugs).

But mostly, it was about the fatal flaws within a society that has accepted the precepts of Free Market Corporatism as its highest values. In an "ownership society", those who own little can scarce claim membership.

The results, now in plain view, are (thank God) abhorrent to the American people. See now the product of Corporatism, raw and stripped of all the abstractions provided by the pencil necked gonks who masturbated while reading "Atlas Shrugged" ... bloated, rat chewed bodies floating down the street.

Hate inspired preachers thank God for hurricane Katrina, without considering the interpretation most consistent with Christian philosophy: That Katrina was allowed to happen so as to reveal to us all the future being prepared for us by these godless fiends.

20. I don't want to take away from your argument
because you have every right to express your opinion.

I just really, really don't want to see Bush/Cheney win in this case because I betcha they want a race war to exert even more control over the people. I really don't want to see riots, etc. because it would further their neocon cause.

21. W/Cheney/GOP elitists don't want race riots
They want the minorities to be hated by all so they can form their caste society.

Guess what. There may well be an uprising against these elitists. But it will be by the working class and the minorities (with the exception of Condi (Emelda) Rice.

27. Could very well be...
but they are failing miserably then. Like I expressed before, I believe this catastrophe has united the races in one voice in anger and disbelief that our government has let us down and allowed so many people to die and suffer.

The thing is, if black people rise up, there will be an equal amount of asian, hispanic, white, and arab peoples alongside them. I believe this would discredit the notion of it being about race per se, although participants may choose to emphasize that a majority underprivelidged black people were affected.

Rather I believe it would represent a unified, multiracial, multicultural anger that our President and our government would allow for the genocide of thousands of American citizens, and then not even offer an apology for it.

28. That's exactly why they've been busy eliminating the 'working class.'
They don't want anymore snot-nosed educated middle-class people causing problems like they did in the 60s.

29. Of course it's about race...
and class. It was plain as day when I watched it all unfold. And when I called my Mom and raged at her "Why they weren't helping those folks?", she said the obvious: It is because they are black and poor.

I have seen white racism up close and personal, even in my own family. Back in the day it was a lot more obvious, but it's still there, just hidden behind a more polite public face now.

30. Well, I won't tell fucking ...er... fuck telling ... er... fucking tell ..
(shit) Here, let me just say what I said before ...
Merely ask: "Who benefits the most from racism?"

If someone tries to answer in terms of race, they're a victim of the racism plague, not an answerer. Why? Because racism is a no-win proposition. The wealthy benefit, no matter what their ethnicity, when they EXPLOIT the divisions racism inflames. From "white flight" to "union busting," the wealthy collect.

It's the anthrax in our body politic. The people who 'weaponize' it are using it as a WMD in the class war -- which has been going on for centuries.

The tragic thing I see is that we take something essentially meaningless and make it real ... appallingly, stupidly, brainlessly, maliciously, criminally ... real.
