washingtonpost.comPentagon Revises Nuclear Strike PlanStrategy Includes Preemptive Use Against Banned Weapons

By Walter PincusWashington Post Staff WriterSunday, September 11, 2005; A01

The Pentagon has drafted a revised doctrine for the use of nuclear weapons that envisions commanders requesting presidential approval to use them to preempt an attack by a nation or a terrorist group using weapons of mass destruction. The draft also includes the option of using nuclear arms to destroy known enemy stockpiles of nuclear, biological or chemical weapons.

The document, written by the Pentagon's Joint Chiefs staff but not yet finally approved by Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, would update rules and procedures governing use of nuclear weapons to reflect a preemption strategy first announced by the Bush White House in December 2002. The strategy was outlined in more detail at the time in classified national security directives. ...

9. But this has Iran written all over it
Plus, this doctrine gives others more reason to hit us. If we reserve the right to use nukes first under the pretext of "preemption," then other might decide they need "preempt" us before we "preempt" them.

16. Bingo! I still have an unopened pack of "TOBLERONE" buried in my purse!
We got it when we went to the gift store in Canada while changing our money from Canadian $ to American $.

I think I'll have an early Sunday breakfast! I'll give you one of pieces... oh, my engineer husband says they'll mess up the router. Sorry, but you're on your own.

Picture of me eating some...

http://www.toblerone.com/

Damn! I didn't know it's made by Kraft Foods.

Please tell me that's not a Republican company....

4. I heard the nuclear plans for NE Pennsylvania several years ago.
It was based on the assumption that the US would not strike first. They then assumed that Russia would be the attacker. They figured Russia would evacuate Moscow first so we would have 3 days to get ready for the bombs. They would take everyone out of the cities of Scranton and Wilkes-Berre and put them in tents 30-50 miles away. Supply food and water and wait til the bombing is over.

Can you image our wonder leaders evacuating anyone but themselves before they start droppeing the bombs? * has been trying to get this through since he was first in office. Doesn't have to worry about having soldiers if you wipe the country off the face of the map first.

29. We'll never be the same country
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 02:13 PM by LuckyTheDog
If they nuke Iran, the U.S. will never again be the same. We'll have crossed over into the role of rogue state. Our only hope would be a complete change of the system on the order of what what seen in Russia and Eastern Europe. Sane, moral people would no longer be able to tolerate politics as usual or the big money that corrupts it.

We'd have to rise up and organize a revolution in government like the country has never seen. Our goals after an event like that would have to be radical: The GOP would have to go and the corporation-based economy would need to be completely re-thought and reformed. The Pentagon would have to be dismantled and replaced with something else. And we'd need a massive truth commission to tell us how we got to the point of doing something so awful.

If none of that could be accomplished, many of us would have to leave the country.

10. That's the point about it ALL....
What I mean is, he CAN'T handle a hurricane. He CAN'T handle Iraq, he CAN'T handle getting Bin Laden. He CAN'T handle the deficit. He CAN'T handle the environment. He CAN'T handle it ALL! He CAN'T handle his presidential duties. NO WAY should he be allowed to continue to destroy this country. I bet experts say he is MORE dangerous than any other threat to this country.

THIS is why NOW is the time. Now IS the time for the blame game. Now is the time to protect our country from all threats, man-made and natural.

Now is the time to contact the media, your congress, your senate and your community. NOW IS THE TIME. That is it. That's all there is, or there won't be no more.

He who hesitates, waits... till someone else goes first. We determine who goes first by our actions. Now is the time.

As Nagin said. Get off your asses. Okay, maybe he was directing that at the creep in charge, but it applies to us too.

Today is September 11th. Let's roll.
