Name some reporters who've been fired for criticizing Dubya, as many as you
can remember.

Ill start off with two names and one URL:

Adam Clymer: The NY Times whisked him away from covering the 2000 campaign--I believe he wound up on a long assignment in West Virginia.

Ashleigh Banfield: She was a rising star at MSNBC.until she criticized Dubya's chumminess with Enron in a speech at a university.

"An Interesting Day: President Bush's Movements and Actions on 9/11

By Allan Wood and Paul Thompson

May 9, 2003

... why, at 9:03 a.m. -- fifteen minutes after it was clear the United States was under terrorist attack -- did President Bush sit down with a classroom of second-graders and begin a 20-minute pre-planned photo op? No one knows the answer to that question. In fact, no one has even asked Bush about it....

Details reported that day and in the week after the attacks - both the media reports and accounts given by Bush himself -- ... changed radically .... Culling hundreds of reports from newspapers, magazines, and the internet has only made finding the "truth" of what happened and when it happened more confusing. In the changed political climate after 9/11, few have dared raise challenging questions about Bush's actions. A journalist who said Bush was "flying around the country like a scared child, seeking refuge in his mother's bed after having a nightmare" and another who said Bush "skedaddled" were fired. (Washington Post, 9/29/01)"

For more reminiscences and photos about the truth covered up by post-9/11 spin, see http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4731774

3. Jon Leiberman, the lead political reporter for Sinclair Broadcast Group..
was fired after accusing the media company of "indefensible" conduct for planning to air a movie attacking Sen. John Kerry's Vietnam record days before the 2004 election. He spoke out, he said, because he strongly felt that Sinclair was inappropriately trying to sway the election in B* favor.

This isn't for "criticizing" B*, but it is related to inappropriate support for B* by a media group.

5. In a similar vein, James Carville and Paul Begala of "Crossfire", though
they're not really reporters. They're the political operatives most responsible for Bill Clinton's 1996, because of their "War Room", and they've since become political commentators.

When Jon Stewart nailed their colleague Tucker Carlson's snide political posturing, who got TWO new political shows and who were demoted to nonscheduled occasional 1 -minute segments?

What IS Tucker Carlson, anyway? He's not a reporter, and he certainly never got anyone elected to any office.

8. Oops--I meant to write, "Bill Clinton's 1992 victory", not "Bill Clinton's 1996"

4. not reporters, but Canadian government employees
At least 3 have been demoted or pressured to resign, as a result of criticizing George W. Bush.

Ted Bowen (researcher for provincial NDP gov't, Saskatchewan)
http://www.dailypundit.com/archives/012016.php

Francoise Ducros (aide to PM Chretien)

Carolyn Parrish (federal Member of Parliament)

--she didn't exactly get "fired" since she is still representing her riding as an Independent -- but she was let go from the party caucus

9. as they say in "The Lord of the Rings": "his arm has grown long indeed"
What happened was, the conservative pro-Bush opposition pounced on them, accusing them of insulting our closest friend by demeaning The Leader of the Free World that way ... and endangering our economy (which depends heavily on the US). The federal Liberals are center-left (think middle-of-the-road Dems) and the Saskatchewan government is a bit left of them. So big business is suspicious of them anyway, and they have to bend over backwards to be "fair" -- or be accused of being naive socialists or America-bashers.

7. Phil Donahue - Not a reporter, but fired
From his MSNBC show, because he presented the other side of Bush's war. He had the highest rated program on MSNBC at the time. Poof, gone.
