Firms with Bush ties snag Katrina deals
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 06:30 AM by Jon8503
When is the press or better scrutiny going to take place & stop these people from cashing in on America's misery?

Halliburton continues to be a source of income for Cheney, who served as its chief executive officer from 1995 until 2000 when he joined the Republican ticket for the White House. According to tax filings released in April, Cheney's income included $194,852 in deferred pay from the company, which has also won billion-dollar government contracts in Iraq.

1. and if you remember, Halliburton was on the ropes in 2000,
and was damn close to filing for bankruptcy... which happened under Cheney's watch, of course.

And now... well, now, oddly enough, they're flush with cash and many, many multi-billion dollar, no-bid contracts.

I mean, do you really have to be an 'analyst' to connect the dots there?

2. The bush administration would try to lead everyone to believe...
Halliburton, Bechtel and other huge corporations are the only ones capable of doing the job. That is the farthest thing from the truth. Many smaller companies in this country would do a far better job. If the devastated areas were divided into sections the work could be awarded to many reputable companies, doing a far better job and spreading the wealth.
