Cheney: I came back four days early
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/10/AR2005091001361_pf.html

This is close to the end of the article:

**************************

Vice President Cheney visited with some survivors gathered at the Austin Convention Center, one day before Bush will make his third visit to the region. Earlier in the day, Cheney told staff at the Texas State Operations Center that "there are a lot of lessons we want to learn out of this process, in terms of what works and how we can do it better."

When asked why he did not return from vacation until Thursday, three days after the storm hit, Cheney said: "I came back four days early."

1. Must be like chatting up Darth Vader...
... to try to talk to Cheney. Not much small-talk there.

2. Oh? Does anyone have a documented sighting of Cheney on Weds?
Let's see... Wednesday, when it was obvious by late Sat/Sun that the Gulf was about to be smacked by a catastrophic hurricane. So he says he finally decided to show up for work ON WEDNESDAY???!!!

Gee, that's nice of you to drop in on the office, Dickface, seeing there was already a national emergency and all.

3. I wish they would all go on vacation permanently.

The recent hurricane disasters proved that the American people do not need them at all. When there are people in need, citizens can do a better job of taking care of our own. Look what happened to the people of NO when they relied on this government. If people would have known in advance what was going to happen to those who were abandoned, we would have rushed down there ourselves and grabbed those people out before the hurricane struck and brought them to safety. Americans should be angry. And they should be disgusted. And they should insist on the resignation of Mike Brown AND GWB! Our fellow citizens died unnecessarily. Where is the outrage?

4. Nice to know that our VP is such a clock watcher
I thought that sort of attitude is supposed to be retired when you go on salary?

5. Mere words fail to convey the total lack of compassion
for the victims exhibited by those we are suppose to depend on in times of national disasters. If there is not a profit in it for them, they don't care. They really don't care. People are dying because of their neglect and incompetence. They don't have a clue.

6. Well jeez, give the guy a fucking MEDAL
Four whole days. Out of what, 5 WEEKS?

Most of us shlubs get a week a year, maybe, and we're lucky if it's paid.

human, why don't they just keep their lie holes shut?

9. Oh Dick...Can I call ya DICK?
Thanks for your sacrifice. But really, you shouldn't have. No Honestly, you Shouldn't Have! New Orleans really doesn't need any more trash on it's streets, so you REALLY should have stayed on your vacation.

10. Yesterday he also said the "Katrina exercise" was going well.
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20050910/ts_nm/katrina_wrap_dc_19

That's the link for another article that refers to his visit to Austin, this one with the headline "Rescuers collect dead, Cheney sounds upbeat." I posted this in another topic after searching for it online, after someone saw the MSNBC scroll refer to this quote from Cheney:

"I think we are in fact on our way to getting on top of the whole Katrina exercise."

12. Americans resent both Pres and Veep being AWOL on vacation so long
I think what is going to hurt both Bush and Cheney and their followers the most is how both the Pres and VP were so noticeably MIA and AWOL this summer on lengthy vacations out of touch with America's problems both in Iraq and the unfolding catastrophe Katrina that they were oblivious to for days while most Americans were either in harms way or glued to their TV's getting more and more disgusted and enraged with the arrogance and lack of leadership from the top.

"came back four days early"?

How about Five days late, you fucking vampire?

How about the poeple who died years and decades early while your chimp boy fiddled and ate cake?

I detest repukes. Period. Every stinking one of them has blood on their hands.
